- Bill M2 contributionsAmazing ServiceAs a group leader for a small tour guide company I booked a Nekong River Cruise with Inside Travel and worked withvtheir local travel Expert Hong Nham. We began communicating and planning my cruise months before our trip. Ms. Hong helped me choose the right boat, the right itinerary, and length of the cruise. We had a wonderful time and every aspect of the cruise was patch perfect. With a very tight window between our departure time in Phnom Penh andvour flight at tge sirport, Ms. Hong went out of her way to arrange the speedboat to depart earlier with a quick turnaround at the border and a speed van to the airport. We could not have been more pleased with our service from Inside Travel and partucurly with Ms. Hong Nham. We will definitely use their services for all our future trips to Vietnam. Thanks Hong!Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 26 December 2023
- dianedinkyDunfermline, United Kingdom1,346 contributionsArrived via Mekong speedboat and sunset cruise absolutely stunningMost trips have you flying into Phnom Penh but I thought arriving by speedboat would be more interesting - and it so was! Lovely trip with free snacks and smooth visa process. Once in the city, did one of the sunset boat trips and it was one of the best water trips I have had. Really stunning colours as you cruise down the Mekong past temples and skyscrapers.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 1 May 2024
- anthony gSpartanburg, South Carolina8 contributionsExploring the Mekong River with My Way TravelThe cruise tour with the Avalon Waterways on the Mekong River was very well organized by My Way Travel. From the pick-up at the hotel to the tour itself, everything was very good. The trip is not cheap, but you can see everything in the Mekong Delta. The ship is beautiful, and the food was good too. The land tour before and after the cruise was also excellent.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 24 May 2024
- Connie WTokyo, Japan9 contributionsWonderful Mekong Cruise Booked through My Way TravelKevil organized our trip perfectly. From contacting us online to being picked up by the driver on time and checking for our allergies for the Mekong River Cruise, everything went really well. Our questions were answered quickly and reliably. If I return to Cambodia again, My Way Travel will be my first choice.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 27 May 2024
- Shauna i8 contributionsWonderful Mekong Princess CruiseWe booked a Cambodia - Vietnam tour that includes 8 days from Siem Reap - Saigon by Mekong Princess. It's a perfect choice. The cruise had only 14 cabins and just about 20 people doing the trip. It's likely that there were more staff than guests on our 8 day cruise. All were perfect. We got great food, good itinerary through out. Our cabin was spacious, clean with very confortable bed. Our guides were very imformative. All the land tours were well planned. I would highly recommend Mekong Princess to anyone.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 August 2024

The river is ever present in the life of Phnom Penh.where it merges as "Four Corners" with the Bassac. Bustling with tourists during the day, beautiful at sunset, crowded with spectators for the boat races and fireworks.

Take a walk down to the riverside during the evenings and see the real Cambodia. Friends , families , lovers all come to the riverbank during the sunset to gather for a meal and chat among friends. The sunset provides a great photo opportunity with Phnom Penh city in the background. There are lots of restaurants along the banks to cater to various taste buds so take at stroll here for dinner to wind down your day.

My husband and I spent a week cruising on the Heritage Line's Jayavarman, the boat has undeniable charm. The team is fantastic. The food is good. Our cabin was a deluxe cabin, decorated with dark wood. We would have thought we were in another era (in the positive sense of the term). We had several small surprises for our anniversary: sparkling wine, high tea on our balcony and even a souvenir photo! The landscapes crossed were magnificent and the excursions offered varied: they allowed us to meet people and it's fantastic. The rhythm of the visits made it possible to rest between 2 excursions. The boat even organized a private excursion for us to visit Sadek, the city where my favorite author lived. The jacuzzi pool on the deck was a real bonus for us. We thank the whole Jayavarman team for the unique moments spent on board!

The cruises all have one thing in common - they charge a foreigner more than a Cambodian.
Maybe at this time a customers could insist on paying the same price as the locals, but then they will rob you on the price of beer or soft drinks on board.
However, for a cheap 50 cent cruise go over the river on one of the ferries, and travel back.
You could even take a can with you . . .

I booked a sunset boat trip on the Tonle Sap and Mekong River. I thought it was incredibly beautiful, the guide gave us lots of information and the panorama was so beautiful together with the pleasant weather, I really enjoyed it. We then drove up to the bridge, which was lit up in the colors of Cambodia, a great 3 hours that were absolutely worth it. There are various providers, I booked with getyourguide.

It was a pleasant trip by boat. The Floating Village is a huge complex and the one we saw had about 10,000 residents, living in small houses side by side. The houses are built on stilts and during the rainy season, the rising waters gives the illusion that the whole village is floating. Fishing is the main-stay of the villagers. The children go to school by boat. The government has given them electricity connection. It is a marvelous sight to behold and one of the must-see places in Cambodia.

The sunset cruise on the Mekong River was a highlight of my trip. Watching the sun set over Phnom Penh’s skyline was breathtaking. The boat was comfortable, and the relaxed vibe was perfect for winding down. It’s a must-do for solo travelers looking for a peaceful and scenic experience.

What are the average prices of drinks on board the Jayavarman & also the Spa prices?

sorry we were not on that boat

Looking at taking this cruise but need to know how physically taxing it is. I have Parkinson’s and am very active but occasionally need a hand with unlevel surfaces and do occasionally need to rest. Would this trip be extremely physically taxing or could it be managed?
Written 28 October 2018
There are some uneven surfaces, but staff are helpful especially for an advance tip.
I think you should manage ok.
Enjoy it while you still can.

We are looking to go on the amalotus in February next year . Any views would be appreciated on the itinerary and boat itself.
Thanks

Sorry I can't help you.
We did the trip with Insider Journeys and can't speak highly enough about the cruise, and in particular the staff. They were wonderful and made the trip. They could not do enough for you.The ship was very comfortable .

One of our favourite trips!

Has anyone used APT Amalotus for Mekong 8 night cruise? Very keen but need some feedback first. Thank you.
Written 13 December 2017
No, haven't used APT. All the boats that I saw appear to be much the same on the Mekong, and I suspect they are all beautiful. we looked at Pandaw a few times, but that wasn't to be for us, Not becuase we didn't like the boats, but the itinerary dates didn't work. The Jahan of the Jayavarman group was our solution, and I have nothing but good things to say. I suspect they are all fantastic. We will be using APT in Myanmar soon.

Hello!
We're going on the same cruise in beginning of December and I wonder could you suggest what to pack and how was the weather during your trip?
Also: did you get any shots and do you feel it was really necessary? What other people in the group did?
Thanks!
Mark
Written 24 October 2017
Hi Mark. The weather was hot and humid, but often dry during our trip, but by December it may be different.
We have had shots for previous trips so didn't need any this time. Suggest you discuss with your doctor. Wasnt a topic of discussion with other passengers.
Pack light generally as you don't need much. Good casual clothing is the order of every day. Laundry onboard is reasonably priced. Ensure you pack a lightweight raincoat every day as rain comes in quickly. We found a lightweight backpack a good addition. Also shore excursions generally mean shoes are muddy. As you return to ship the crew take your shoes, clean and return them to your room. Best to wear shoes with velcro straps to make this boarding process easy.
Bottled water is provided constantly, both in cabin and as you disembark for excursions.
Recommend upgrade to main deck with slightly nicer room.
We are sure you will enjoy the trip with the very friendly and helpful staff.
