At the request of the new Director of Tourism, I established Intrepid in the late 1990's to help develop activity and outdoor based tour products in Brunei. I created the first visitor programmes for Temburong National Park and setup a number of other operators businesses there. This was after arriving in Brunei in 1993 from Australia to establish Brunei's Outward Bound Centre in Temburong.

Intrepid Tours began independent operations in 1999, and continued developing new tour products in Temburong, the mangroves near Bandar Seri Begawan and elsewhere. Our success is demonstrated by the fact many of these tours can now be seen replicated by other operators.

Nevertheless, because of my Outward Bound background and qualifications as an educator, our tours and packages have a unique quality that aims to inform and educate as well as experience Brunei.

Our standard tour options are designed to suit visitor preferences and the time available; including short, day, evening and multi-day programmes.

Our tours include most cultural and natural heritage attractions in Brunei. And we still have tours that are unique.

Our multi-day packages include accommodation - eg hotel, longhouse, river camp - and transfers in combination with our established tours.

Our Bandar Seri Begawan office and marine tourism and training base at Mangrove Paradise Resort - on the Brunei River - allows us to provide a range of tours that cannot be copied. The accommodation at Mangrove Paradise Resort - chalets and villas over the water - can be integrated into our multi-day Brunei packages.

Our operations base in Temburong - a "modern" longhouse made from bricks and concrete with some air-cond bedrooms, bunkrooms and even WiFi - is where we store our equipment, including rafts, life-jackets etc for our Temburong tours. Integrating the longhouse community into our tours ensures the economic benefits of tourism reach traditional communities to help them preserve their lifestyles and values. It also means great food and visitor experiences for our guests.

Some of our multi-day packages include visits to adjacent areas of the island of Borneo - Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan - in Malaysia. And innovative methods of linking them together.

We tailor-make programmes for schools, special interest groups, families, couples, team building, cruise ship visitors, golfers and divers.

We conduct International Yacht Training courses and certification for recreational sailing and power boating & dive boat drivers. We train boat drivers for visitor operations in Brunei, and adjacent areas of Borneo.

Please join us for a great experience in Brunei. We'll do our best to help you create a wonderful visit and to experience what makes Brunei the gem at the geographic centre of SE Asia.

Please email us with your enquiries and requests.

Following working in Brunei for 18 months, managed to arrange a day's introduction trip, with my partner to the Jungle, and had a magical experience of both the jungle and the culture. I would highly recommend this tour to all.

Our family did the Heritage Tour to Ulu Temburong (2 kids along) and the exploration was perfect. The trip was broken up by a 45 minute boat ride, a shorter van ride to a long house for tea, then a longboat ride into the trekking portion. The return trip was the same in reverse, including the stop at the longhouse... More

I just completed a private tour through Intrepid Tours in Delhi, India. While the tour organization leading up to the day of the tour left something to be desired, the actual tour was fantastic. My guide was Saurabh, a university student with impeccable knowledge of his city and fantastic language skills. His affable approach to the tour was greatly appreciated,... More

Allan told us a lot about Brunei and it's people. Very interesting and with humor. The visit at the water village house was very nice. Unfortantely Allan did not join us on the mangrove tour. We would have loved more stories about BSB. The mangrove tour was very nice, and we've seen a lot of monkeys!

Our cruise ship stopped in Brunei for the day and we hired Intrepid Tours to take us to Temburong National Park. They met us at the port and drove us by van across the city to a smaller boat dock. We took a small boat ride for about 45 minutes. During this time we were able to view some of... More

Intrepid Tours had several booked tours that day so we were lucky that we happened to get Allan to guide us on our private tour. With everything closed for two hours for Friday prayer, he provided a surprise picnic lunch for us and gave us an insider’s view of Brunei. Because of Allan’s expertise, we received a wave from the... More

A well organised, efficient tour arranged around a port stop in Brunei. Knowledgeable and interesting guides, full of jokes and good humour. Tea and cakes at the water village and looking and listening for monkeys were the highlights. Also great that it was arranged in small groups. So much better than hoards of people. Thanks

This is a good travel agency which offers a less expensive tour of Brunei as compared to that from cruise ships. The tour price depends on the final head count 2 weeks before the tour date. The communication with the contact is excellent. The guide is friendly and fluent in English. The only drawback is the payment process. They do not... More

Our tour was great fun. We were able to do a boat tour to look for monkeys in the trees, had tea and snacks at a house in the water village, saw the history museum and even got a glimpse of the Sultan as he drove away from his palace!
