This is a great market that contains both food and crafts from Brunei. It is clean, well-organized and the products are inexpensive. It will give you a great feel for the the food and handicrafts of Brunei and is especially lively on Friday mornings before everything closes from 12-2pm for Friday prayers. I would recommend spending 30 minute to an... More

The market place is situated in the town centre and within walking distance from hotels in town area. The market is always vibrantly busy especially on fridays and sundays. Very colourful and one can find all sorts of local produce, antiques and exotic pets for sale. This is a good place for experiencing local culture and mingling with the local... More

Locals go there to buy their weekly rations including veggies, & spices. You can park in the area but what I did was, I went for a boat tour first then asked the boatmen to drop us straight at the market. They have stairs that go up to the market.

It's still by the river (sort of...) but more importantly it's still full of local vegetables and foodstuff which are home grown and made from.home.... It's now located in a better surroundings than before. Locals shop here .....Worth a wander one morning especially if you are staying in one of the hotels in Bandar Seri begawan

Locals arrive here early for their daily produce, there's a wet market section with seafood and plenty of fruits, vegetables and dried fare. Tourists can purchase souvenirs at high prices and pets such as hamsters, birds and more are also for sale. Worth a look around and take some nice photographs too.

This is a fruit and vegetable market with a bunch of covered stands. Not huge but there are a number of stands.

There is an ancient outdoor localmarket on one end of town .We came here hopping to find handicrafts but it was mostly a food market for locals. There were many exotic spices ,fruit ,honey and loads of smelly fish.

We recently visited and were excited to see all the local produce. There are so many delicious things to buy and also some hand crafted gifts.

The tamu Kianggeh has relocated several meters away to brushed up stalls divided into blocks A/B/C, etc. It's definitely cleaner with less smell but the soul of the place is gone unlike its predecessor by the embankment. It's still a place to get and see local foodstuffs e.g. dried prawns, anchovies, fresh veges, etc.

Thank Naiza A
