Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A well located fortification with excellent views over the oil fields, towards the Ramana community. One of many castles and towers on the Absheron Peninsula dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries.

When you think of a castle, you might think of a huge castle but this isn’t that. It’s kind of small but you can explore the whole thing. Be aware that the steps going up the castle are tiny at times

The way up to Ramana Castle is a bit tricky. Finally you come through a settlement with friendly people and streets getting more and more narrow. Ramana Castle is not in a very good state and is probably in itself not worth a trip, but from up there you have an excellent view of the plain below. Down there you can discern an army of oil pumps that have caused terrible destruction. In any case I remember great damages done to nature in the oil fields.

Visited the Ramana Qasri, a watch tower. From the tower we saw many oil rigs. The view was okay nothing spectacular. There’s nothing much to see from the tower or do around the area. One will not miss much if he doesn’t include this place in the itinerary.

Not a castle where kings lived. More for strategic use and for informing others of approaching dangers during those times. The 3 museums next to it, will find lots to see. Recycled art museum is good. Was featuring an Indian also.

Stopped at this Castle when passing with a tour. The castle is locked but the key holder lives in the first house up, on the right hand side in front of it. He provides the key and the cost is 2.5 Manat each, if I remember correctly. Once inside the walls, there is a central tower - with a circular stair well up to the next floor. There are further steps up to higher positions but they didn't look too solid, but they were available! There isn't much to see, but with a bit more investment it could be great place. The outer walls have steps up to the top and you can walk around (at least parts of it) and the views are of the surrounding oil fields.

We stopped by here as it was in the guidebook. It said in the book finding the key holder was hit and miss - when we got there and it was locked we didn’t bother trying to find them as it looked pretty barren inside! It is a strong castle though and offers great views of the oil fields. We did one circuit around the castle and then went. It is cool but don’t make a trip out especially - we were driving back from somewhere else and it was on the way.

There is not too much to see. Unfortunately, it was closed and we didn't not find anyone in the village who would be able to let us in. However, I don't think we missed much since inside of the tower is not much to see. You can walk around. It's a neat village and I liked the surrounding. It's also great to see some of the old and new oil fields - it's a really impressive sight. I'm glad we came here.

Ideal visiting time is after the lunch but before the sunset. Castle is fine, but more interesting are old oil fields which are around.

I would say that there is really nice place, but I wouldn't ;-)

There is a castle on top of small hill. Close to the castle there are detached houses with people. There is no any infrastructure. No entrance, no information desk.. there is not even solid road. If you don't have Toyota Land Cruiser - better not to go there.

A lot of junks around and high, unmade grass.

But finally there is a really nice castle and you can make a lot of nice photos.

You have to be careful if you are going there with kids - the slope on which the castle stands is quite steep.
