Baku Khans lived in Baku during the 17th century. They had many houses in the area located towards the left of the Shamakhy Gate. The last Baku Khan was Husayn Quli Khan. During the Soviet occupation a Russian army garrison was located on the Baku Khan’s palatial house which used to have gardens and a pool. Until recent times Military police administration was located here. Now you can only see the huge entrance and a small mosque. Archaeological excavation and investigation of this interesting building is still going on.
