Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Government House of Baku is a gigsntic eleven storied edifice facing the Baku Boulevard and the Caspian sea. It was designed and built in the Soviet times. The construction of this sprawling building took 16 years and the it was completed in 1952. German prisoners of war were most probably used to build this mammoth structure. The land in front of it was called the Lenin Square at that time and it had a statue of Lenin affixed here. After the massacre of 1990 this monument was removed and the square was renamed Freedom Square. These days a number of ministries of Azerbaijan have their offices here. Many expensive hotels are located in this area. In 2008 the “Seven Beauties” musical fountain was built across this historic building.

Government House has got such a central location in Baku that it is frequently visited by tourists or rather: its photo is often taken by tourists. The building lies on Neftchiler Boulevard. It houses several governmental departments and organizations. Its architectural style is called Baroque but somehow it reminded me of drawings of ancient buildings in Mesopotamia which I had seen in books and exhibitions. Strange...

this building is quite massive and it was built following the soviet style of architecture. It is one of the few remaining buildings of this style and it is of of the few really nice buildings from the Soviet time . We were told by our guide that it was built by German prisoners of war and completed in 1952 . It fits very well in the environment . The departure of the HOHO sightseeing bus is in front of it on the other side of the boulevard .

The government building was located directly opposite my hotel, I watched it from my room. Interesting architecture, the right style for Baku. The building is new, it exudes power.
