“The center of Baku!”

This square is called Azneft Meydani by the locals and SOCAR circle by the expats. SOCAR stands for the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic and it used to have it's headquarters on this square which was located in a 1896 stone building. This downtown square is named after historical "Azneft" ("AzOil") trust. It is one of the tourist hubs of Baku with many interesting tourist attractions scattered around it.
