About
Situated 56km SE of Nha Trang, this newly developed site includes a reconstruction of Dr Alexandre Yersin's outstation. The building contains items of original furniture transported from the Dr Yersin Museum in Nha Trang, and reproductions of several period photographs. Entrance fee to the historical site is 30,000 dong. On site parking is free. Also on site are: an open sided canteen, and five small chalets for rent at 500,000 dong per night per couple (100,000 dong per additional guest). Electricity is available, but as yet is inexplicably not connected. Hence (1) the canteen menu is limited to dried fish, dried squid and fresh chicken, killed just for you. Tea, coffee, soft drinks and non-refigerated beer are available without ice; (2) the chalets are unheated and without hot water; and (3) small kerosene hurrican lamps are used for lighting. To get here, go 17km from Nha Trang towards Saigon, turn right at Suoi Cat commune at a blue and white tourist sign "Ho Chua Nuoc Suoi Dau", after one km and turn left a market onto the Hon Ba road. Follow this road 38km to Hon Ba peak.A visit to this site would suit history buffs and those just wishing an escape from summer heat in Nha Trang. Good swimming holes are available in the stream at the bottom of the mountain, especially near the Foresty Inspection Station boom gate, 13km from the Suoi Cat turn off.

We were hoping to get to Hon ba to visit Yersin's house where he did a lot of his research but unfortunately just after the activity centre by the stream the road was closed due to a landslide but I'm not sure when it occurred. We went to the centre and climbed down to the river and whilst there one of the staff told us that Yersin's house had been damaged in a storm. A disappointing and expensive trip so get up to date information before going there.

2022 , tried to ride road bike go up to Hon Ba Yersin House but the road closed . Its still left 15km to the top of mountain. Before closed road there is an adventure park. The driver at adventure park told me its already closed. I believe the house was damaged and due to pandemic no one came to this tourist location. Hopefully in future it will reopen and well maintain.

64 Kms and 2:45 / 3:00 hours from Nha Trang and this by motorbike driven by me (reasonably with safety in mind)... So forget allowing two to three hours you need to think of a visit as a day trip.
Prices in the restaurant quite reasonable 7up 15k , main dishes 30 to 45k. Superb views of distance Nha Trang and inland . Loved it PLEASE NOTE : last petrol is 23 Kms from the summit at the toll block (cars and trucks pay not bikes) LOVED IT!

We went to Hon Ba exploring the beautiful countryside around Nha Trang and the ride was just amazing! There is Alexander Yersin museum at the top of the hill, but it's not about the destination, it's about the ride. After getting out of Nha Trang and turning off the highway, you start going through stunning landscapes, slowly making your way up the mountain. Halfway up there is a great bathing place, and closer to the top the road starts winding and revealing amazing views. The serpantine road is especially fun when going down, it's like a roller-coaster :) Rent a bike and just enjoy the peaceful and quiet forest. Oh, and don't forget warm clothes - it gets cold closer to the top.

There is not much to see there so those looking for "brick and mortar" attractions would be disappointed but views from the road leading there are beautiful. The place is quiet and not infested with merchants so you will not be hassled there. The air is fresh and sort of cool especially in comparison with the coast so in my opinion if you want to relax and get away from hordes of tourists then this is good place to do that. There is a restaurant on the summit so you can have a coffee there. If you want to ride there on your own by motorbike then keep in mind that the road leading there is quite demanding - very curvy, quite narrow and in some places the surface is not in good condition, although the traffic is very thin.

This place has not much things to show. Only an wooden house of Yersin, a restaurant. You can't visit the forest here though it looks very nice. But if you have time and want to run away from busy city life, you should drive motorbike here to enjoy fresh air.

The summit of Hon Ba is higher than Da Lat at 1,514 m. above sea level, yet just 57 km. from Nha Trang. I cycle up there, using the 2-bunk bed cabin to overnight at the Nguon Suoi Restaurant in the woods at 39 km. from Nha
Trang and 272 m. elevation above sea level. The summit has a restaurant and overnight facilities run by the Yasaka Hotel, Nha Trang. Dr. Yersin's office and gardens are restored for visitors to see. I cycle up from Nguon Suoimearly in the morning, descending to Nguon Suoi in the afternoon, then back to Nha Trang the next morning

This was a great place to see a lot of wildlife while visiting. All of us saw many different species of birds, monkeys and even locals diving for oysters near us. While the boat was old and maybe a little uncomfortable seating (wooden plank) it's worth it completely!

This is an awesome area to get away from the traffic and noise and listen to the sounds of nature. The waterfall is nestled along a rocky walkway and most people succumb to the urge of jumping into the river to cool off. Bring along a picnic lunch and enjoy the day!

It is an interesting trip very close to Nha Trang city. The best is to rent bikes and go there (you can use google map it's easy to get there). The museum itself is not very interesting (it's brand new and has been rebuilt based on a few pictures) but the landscape around it is stunning!
