Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Wanted a beach day in Hue - so went to Thuan An. The public beach was nothing to look at - no chairs or umbrellas - not very nice. If you have a motorbike and want a free spot on the sand - then is OK. We had our taxi take us to the Ana Mandera Resort - a few minutes drive- and it was heaven.
Gorgeous beach, beautiful facilities, great service. You pay 200,000 dong per person for the day and have free run of the resort. Pool, beach, umbrellas and chairs, towels, etc
Took about 20 mins from Hue and just over 200,000 for a taxi.
If you want a wonderful beach experience and will spring $10 for it - then come here. Worth every penny!

I didn't know where to post this, but the beach can be easily reached from Hue city by public bus.
Get on bus No. 3 (6000VND/person) at the Le Loi - Doi Cung crossing (opposite to the parking cyclos) and its final destination is Bến xe Thuận An. From here it's no more than 3 minutes to the beach. The last bus comes back at 17:30. I found the timetables in an (Android) app called "Hue Bus - Smartbus.vn".

I saw some really negative reviews about Thuan An Beach and I want to write some positive things about the beach and the town. It is a nice beach with golden sand and blue water. Some people, who might have come during the winter time(around Dec- Mar) would say the beach is ugly, there are a lot of trash, water is dirty, the beach is dead, no umbrellas,... In the winter when it is stormy, rainny, the water is normally not so blue. It can look dark and murky. I think it is normal with a lot of beaches. Water usually turning back to blue a few days after the storm. In the summer, the water is blue and warm. Sometimes, the water can be blue and warm in the winter when the weather is nice. Thuan An beach is not touristy, so it is still underdeveloped. You can say it is off the beaten path. In the summer when there are more people coming to the beach, the local government have people out cleaning the beach. There are also more restaurants opened in the summer. They put up umbrellas and tents for rent. You would have no problem finding a place to eat or drink. As you know our oceans are full of trash. Winter storms and high waves bring trash to the shores leaving them on the beach. They do not have people out in the winter picking up the trash because it is cold. I personally love this beach because it is not touristy. A lot of times, I had the whole beach for myself and I loved it.
Besides the beach, Thuan An has beautiful Tam Giang lagoon. It is one of the biggest lagoons in Southeast Asia. You will be able to take some breathtaking sunrises and sunsets photos on the beach or on Tam Giang lagoon. There are many small restaurants and coffee shops around the village. You can find pretty everything you need in Thuan An.

I was here last April and I really didn’t have high expectations due to some bad reviews in TripAdvisor regarding the cleanness of the water. I have to say that I was quiet impressed; the sea water was clean and clear and the beach was decent too. This place is not heavily touristy, in fact the whole beach was practically ours which is something we like because we don’t like crowded places. There are no umbrellas on the beach but you can rent them from the restaurants and they’ll install them for you. The restaurants are not fancy or anything and don’t expect beach service either because there isn’t. I suggest bringing a cooler as the beach is very wide so you will need to walk a bit to get refreshments from the restaurants. Overall it was a lovely experience but this place may not be for everyone; I think it’s perfect for couples who want a bit of privacy to enjoy the beauty of nature.

actually, this beach is good .but the local government seems dont know how to develop it.
beach divided into 2 sections.the left side owned by a 3~4 stars hotel but rate about usd 150 ,but it is old already. right side open to public. there are 8~10 restaurant share the equal spacing of the beach, selling drinks and simple seafood but charge over price .the food cooked in local way, dont expect will have cheese or grill with fruit.
as i said poor organized, almost all of the chairs and shelters are old and fragile. the sizes and styling are for local people, besides these restaurant, you cant find any bar or cafe, they all run in small investment, cant see any shop like in Nha Trang beaches.
the worse was i went there in the morning as the weather cloudy, usually the vietnamese wont go to beach in sunny or until 5pm bcos skip away the strong sunrays.
that day many cars and people ,along the beaches were peels of fruit and bear bottle, plastic bag everywhere.
i do think the local gov may think Hue have enough spots for tourist.
and abandon this pearl with the people treat it as trash can.

dear Sir
You wrote a review on the public beach of Hue, but we are not.
Confusion coming from the name of my little private place which has for name the beach Hue and that was unfortunately put in the category : attraction. I asked Trip advisor to change it.
I agree with you completely about the public beach and regret that you didn't see our beach.
thank you

My hotel organised a car and driver for $30, for unlimited time, and took me to Hue's best beach, for the afternoon. May have been time of day but undertow was strong and the bottom drops away sharply not far from shore - was shoulder deep 3mtrs from shore. But the water was SO warm and weather beautiful. After swim my driver and I sat on beach at sunset with a beer and some Banh Bao (soft buns with egg and vegies in ) and enjoyed the evening before heading the 20kms back to Hue City. A note : the boys on the beach are very forward!

We began our trip to Vietnam at the Ana Mandara Beach Resort at Thuan An Beach. I expected it to be relaxing and beautiful. It far exceeding our expectations. Going for walks on the beach every morning as the fishermen were launching their boats was a highlight, along with watching the sunset at the beach. Although such a beautiful resort is there, the area around it is still relatively untouched. I surely hope it remains that way. I can't wait to go back again!!!

The Vietnamese litter so much that the beach is awash with plastic, bottles and every type of rubbish imaginable. I would stay at the hotel swim in the pool and look at the beach from a distance

I was very impressed with the beach considering the other reviews I'd read. The part which I went to was beautiful white sand and very clean - unlike a lot of other Vietnamese beaches. If you fancy a relax, try out this beach. I would recommend taking scooter as it's not walkable. This will cost you about $10usd, but it is totally worth it.

Some parts of the beach really are full of junk, but just keep on walking until you find the part that's not and you'll love it. Nice white sand that streches for miles and warm sea, to do while in Hue
