Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The bumpy road goes on and on yet when you arrive you will be treated to an immaculate, peaceful temple complex much simpler than most others we have seen.

We visited on a cool day with intermittent rain and saw maybe 10 others max. We visited with a young local couple there for the first time.

Without a guide, no doubt we missed a lot. If I were starting over, I would have hired a guide not just a driver.

This is a newish working pagoda/monastery with about 20 monks and a few nuns. The setting is superb. Tranquil, beautiful and peaceful. There were very few people there when we visited and no foreigners.
The head monk has entered a three year meditation and is one year in. We met and spoke to the acting head monk. He speaks good English and was happy to chat about the place and Buddhism. He has studied in Sri Lanka where he had to learn English in order to further his Buddhist study.
It is difficult to reach and is down 4 km of dirt track. You may need someone local to take you but it is well worth the trip and a completely different experience to the usual pagoda tours.

It takes a long taxi ride from Hue to gat to this temple, it's past the Minh Mang tomb and down a rough road to get to this temple, but it's a very beautiful temple. When we were there we saw no one and pretty much had a quiet walk through the grounds you have to look for some of the spots and I would have missed the reclining buddha had not my wife told me about it, also they have public restrooms scattered about but you have to search them out. This temple is not set up for tourists so a lot of the signage is in Vietnamese. If you have the time and enjoy the quiet temples this is one to see when your in Hue.

hi, nice drive on village roads o get there. the walk in is a a time to make people be quiet and be respectful. many natural and man made thins to find hidden in the garden plus ponds. then there was the living complex and temple ,well set out, my camera just kept firing, so many good shots.
this sight is fantastic for any person. the garden is good, the complex is not handicap friendly.

Unlike some famous pogodas where there are a lot of visitors who break the quietness that a pogada should have, I could feel the spirit of Buddhism when i entered Huyền Không Sơn Thượng pagoda. It was tranquil and peaceful-the atmosphere of meditation. The landscape is scenic with Huế-style wooden houses, gardens and lakes. Calligraphy is every where, even in the notice board.
There are some restricted areas where, I think, the monks and nuns are practicing meditation. But the warning signs are in Vietnamese. So please watch your step.

Huyen Khong Son Thuong Pagoda is located about 20 minutes away from the center of the city. It's set in a jungle on top of a mountain. The grounds are majestic, inspiring, zen, peaceful, and simply beautiful. Take a walk around the pond, say hello to the ducks and the butterflies. The adventurous will trek up the mountain top to see the prayer sculpture and the religious flag.
