We bought nuts here and regretted not buying more. It was 1kg for 260,000VND vs 460,000VND somewhere else. For pistachio, cashew and almonds. I also got a pack of dried pineapple for 30,000VND. Impossible anywhere else. My friend bought her kids a set of Minion...More

The market is interesting, many nuts, dried fruits or other traditional (Chinese?) food are found. It is good to visit to know how the local people to trade. However, the place is not very clean, especially it is a rainy day. More troublesome is that,...More

This is predominantly a supply kind of market for locals where items are sold in bulk. It's cramped and dirty, you should go elsewhere if you're looking for clothes or other market items as a visitor to Vietnam.

We were expecting this market to be in its original building but it is currently squeezed into tin sheds across the road and in the perimeter. Incredibly narrow, hot & stuffy and more suited to bulk buys. It too some effort to find it too.

Visited in May 2017. The main market is closed for renovation. However, most of the shops moved to temporary space (containers) and the whole place was hot and stuffy. Be prepared to hear about the pricing and as you walked further in, the price gets...More

At this market you can get many things at reasonable proces. but you have to be sure of bargaining or they quote a high prize and you end up buying it.

The main market is shut for a refurb - currently a temporary structure in the road which is cramped and selling wholesale toys, knock-off goods etc. Doesn't really seem to be somewhere you'd go for a wander around. Apparently pickpockets abound which I can easily...More

We had come all the way to Cholon with specific intent of visiting Cho Binh Tay, which used to be quite bustling. However as we approached by foot we were taken aback by all the temporary barracks in the streets surrounding (but hoped it was...More

The market is currently closed and they have shifted it to temporary buildings that are not at all appealing. Very cramped and I can only see locals going there for the food or plastic baskets. Not worth the ride down and back.
