- Sam TMelbourne, Australia35 contributionsOverwhelming choice but try to pace yourselfLike all the markets in Saigon, this one is packed with stalls and vendors all eager for your business. Although there is plenty of stuff to choose from personally I thought it was easier to find bargains at Saigon Square which is right next door. Wherever you go stallholders will be very pushy especially if you try anything on, or even just ask the price. They will expect you to buy something (or at least behave like they do). I think the best strategy is just to ask the price casually and then go look at other options. Try not to buy anything until you have visited a few different markets and place (I fould prices upstairs in Saigon Square were cheaper than downstairs, maybe because they don't get as many customers)Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 December 2023
- Cat C12 contributionsFor serious wholesale shopping. We bought stuff for Christmas. Good priceThis is a wholesale market not suitable for tourist who buys only one or two items. We bought a lot of caps, tees, snacks, seeds and nuts here. Our second time to this market. We were too tired and unable to visit all the stalls. Not enough hands to hold our bagsVisited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 19 December 2023
- Zfy EdSingapore, Singapore10,528 contributionsGood to come back here but was not opened! This local market is located in district 5, the area that is popularly known as the Chinatown in HCMC. Throughout our 10 visits to HCMC, we came here by twice and in our recent trip, we decided to revisit it to see if any changes (and also bringing our friends here). Unfortunately, the market was closed due to the Independence Day holidays and so we took photo outside of the building though staff were seen inside the building doing "worshipping" (there's a temple inside the market). I think the market has undergone some repainting work and now looks nicer. Since the market was closed, I could not comment on the inferior but should be "more or less" the same because from the other markets we have gone to, they too, remained almost unchanged. Then we proceeded to explore the area which was interesting. A short walk here would bring us to the popular toys street where many toy shops are located (and most were opened during our visit) and further down, the stationery and bookstore street. It's a good revisiting trip! And of course, you can bet that we bought many toys, lanterns (since the mid-autumn festival is coming) and stationeries from here!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 9 September 2024

We went to Binh Tay after we got ripped off at Ben Thanh. My wife just had to have a fake Chanel purse and was too eager and paid $200 when it should have been $100.
So we went here in search of bargains. What a let down. First of all, don't even bother going if it is past 5pm. Even though Google says the market shuts down at 7pm, every stall starts packing up around 5:30pm. But 6:00, it's a ghost town. Also, this is almost exclusively wholesale only. Sure they'll sell you something individually - but it won't be cheap and they WILL NOT negotiate. We went to 5 stalls where 4 of them refused to negotiate at all. The last one couldn't be bothered at our small purchase.
We came here because we wanted to see the Chinatown also. But the chinatown is spread out with no large restaurants, no centralized place with an arch or something similar. The area looked no different than any other part of Saigon.
Save your cab fare.

It is a wonderful experience going to this market. This is also a distribution center, where many of the goods are packaged a shipped. It was interesting to see the volume and to see the type of goods shipped out. Prices are probably better than any other market in Ho Chi Minh. Of course, you need to bargain with the vendors. I found that they do not lower the price much here, as the prices are already wholesale priced.

A big area - many stalls but with similar goods - mostly clothing but some shoes and bags. Quite large food stall and product area. Look for quality cotton and silk items at some stalls. BARGAIN!

Nothing more than an overpriced market.
What you find in small shops is up to 100% more expensive here.
E.g. cashews 340. outside 200.
Coca cola. 1.5l supermarket 16.5k here 28k
Even vegetables are more expensive here than on the street

China Town main market is twice the size of Ben Thanh market, similar design with the clock tower but on two floors.
Most of the sellers here are wholesale though, so great if you want x12 bras, 20 pairs of Crocs etc....but worth a visit.
The surrounding area is buzzing too.

This market is mainly for wholesale and people buy-in large quantities . However you still can purchase small amounts of spices, tea and dry fruit. We didn’t spend much time as came to buy few specific things before going to the airport

This market is quite big and covered which is good for getting out of the sun. Bought a few bit in here for around for a third of the asking price. My only gripe is as soon as you walk in, it a very hard sale tactic to the point the grab you, you just have to say no and walk on as the deals get better as you go round

Meh. This was a "stop" on a tour I booked and honestly not sure why. It's a giant wholesale market, which is sort of interesting to see, but not truly worth a "visit". You can't buy anything as it's all wholesale/bulk sales, and the items are not interesting - socks, hats, etc. It's very dirty and hot too. I'd skip this.

I am interested in buying men's fashion quality clothes and shoes from Vietnam which is a good market for it
Written 7 September 2016
My Vietnamese Wife says not to buy clothes in Vietnam if you want quality there are many fakes. I however have bought 5.11 brand clothing which is made in Vietnam and they have been nothing but great.Russian Market. I would forget shoes unless you have small feet. If you want real Quality go and see Sinh at Muoi shop 516-550. In the Ben Thanh Market This tailor had made some of the finest quality suits, trousers and shirts for me. I took my suit to a formal wear shop in the U.S. and they assured me that it was some of the best quality they had seen. He completes work quickly often in two days. Tell him Jim-Mai (pronounced My) sent you.

where is the best market to buy wholesale childrens clothes
Written 23 July 2016
Rather than but at the market, I suggest you use any of the made to measure locals tailors - it is not expensive - you haggle here as well. You can wander around the market to see what is available. Ther best time to buy in the markets is early morning when the bargaining is better.
