About
À Ố Show is one of Vietnamese Bamboo Circus performances. À Ố - derives from Làng Phố, which means ‘village and city’. À Ố Show tells a captivating story of the transition from the peaceful life of the countryside to the fast-paced metropolitan life of modern Southern Vietnam. The soul of village life and, in stark contrast, familiar scenes from the city, are beautifully brought to life -- with bamboo! The stunning simplicity of the bamboo props frames an awe-inspiring circus featuring acrobatics, contortion, juggling, and stunting. Throughout the show, both traditional and modern music harmonize richly, performed live with 17 musical instruments. À Ố Show has become a world-renowned circus, critically acclaimed in 11 countries.

- BrettoSydney, Australia241 contributionsWell worth seeing!A great show to go and see. Firstly a fantastic and historic venue. The show is a combination of acrobatics and dancing (the ad describes it as partly like Cirque de Soleil). The hour passes by quickly. We bought the cheap tickets up the very top and to the side, but found these to be quite good (and cost effective). Would recommend this show.Dear 818bretto, Thank you very much for joining A O show lately and for sharing your impressions. We are so pleased to learn you found the values of the performance and had a great night. We look forward to seeing you again in soon. - JamesHanoi, Vietnam74 contributionsAmazing cultural experience at the opera houseWhile staying in HCMC, I got the opportunity to see this incredible performance at the opera house. It takes you on a journey across time through different aspects of Vietnam and the diverse culture of the Vietnamese people. The different emotions that are woven into the story will move you. If you are a fan of the performing arts, please don't miss an opportunity to see this performance while visiting Saigon.Dear James, Thank you so much for joining us and for sharing your impressions. Your rating and comments are greatly appreciated. We are so glad that the performance amazed you. We look forward to seeing you again soon in other parts of Vietnam. - EnpeejayCalgary, Canada98 contributionsExcellent with a couple of ‘nits’!Great show by fantastic artists and athletes although a bit overpriced compared to broadway or West End shows and especially so compared to prices for most things in HCMC (a high end dinner for example). I note that Lune productions read all the reviews so I’d use this opportunity to advise that seat C1 on the first floor has a damaged seat cushion that makes it very uncomfortable to sit on for an hour and as well, line of sight is poor as you miss things. I’d suggest floor level seating away from the edges to those planning to go.Dear Enpeejay, Thank you very much for joining our show lately and for sharing your feedback which is highly appreciated. Our main and most important aim is to deliver a wonderful experience to our audiences so we highly appreciate your valuable feedback which we can improve where necessary. - PJT15 contributionsMust watch spectacle! One of the biggest surprises of the trip to HCMC. The show was fun and dazzling! The performers looked like it they were having a lot of fun and although it seemed to be rehearsed there seemed to be a lot of elements of freestyle/improv as well. Just beware about seats on the extreme sides as due to the opera house architecture, about 2-3 minutes of the show seemed blocked.Dear PJTeoh, Thank you very much for joining us lately and for sharing your impressions. We are so pleased to learn you found the values of the performance and had a great night. We work really hard to offer the best quality production so we are happy to see that reflected on your recent visit. We look forward to seeing you again soon. - LaNyonsaiseWest Midlands, United Kingdom1,038 contributionsA uniquely Vietnamese entertainment. We came across this show by chance when we were looking at the Opera House exterior. Having seen the Cirque du Soleil a couple of times we know how skilful and entertaining human circus performers can be when you lose the clowns and animals of the typical European variety. We were lucky enough to get two of the last tickets for that night in the very back row of the second level. The stage here is quite small and we were a bit distant from it but we really enjoyed the fast paced varied and unique performance. The agility and sheer energy of these young acrobats is outstanding and there is music and dancing as well. I’d say it is a must watch when you are in Vietnam.Dear LaNyonsaise, Thank you so much for joining us and for sharing your impressions. Your rating and comments are greatly appreciated. We are so glad that the performance amazed you. We are proud that we have such an enthusiastic troupe of performers. You can vividly see their passion and creation on stage. - Travel talesCottesloe, Australia71 contributionsFabulous ShowWith minimal props this production is captivating and entertaining. The performers are such skilled athletes what they can do with their bodies and their skill level is incredibly impressive. The male and female principal dancers were incredibly strong and precise. The timing to the music is precise. One musician plays the violin, classical guitar, mandolin, keyboard, he is a genius. We loved this show including my 13 and 16 year old. The whole hour was thoroughly entertaining.Dear Inspiration309653, Thank you so much for joining us and for sharing your impressions. Your rating and comments are greatly appreciated. - Anne BSydney, Australia230 contributionsWow !!! Do Not Miss This ShowPut this on your must do list in Ho Chi Min. To be honest i cant believe it isn’t ranked higher. The troupe is incredibly talented. The show is a fast paced, very entertaining hour . It has athleticism, grace, comedy and a story to follow despite being in Vietnamese you will understand it. Turn up an hour early and you get a a short tour of the Opera House and a pre show drink. Alcoholic or non alcoholic. I ordered my ticket online before leaving home and ordered the wow seats. It was well worth paying the extra but seats downstairs looked good too if you don’t have the budget to extend . You will still have a great view. I an 5 Ft so don’t risk floor seating . People were buying to tickets at the door and the night before online. So if you aren’t organised still give it a shot. Highly recommended.Dear Anne, Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to write this wonderful review of your recent experience. We booked 3 weeks in advance 2 tickets (50$ ) for o a show. Our fly was 24h delayed so we write a mail for changing our tickets for a new date but received no answer. When we arrived at Ho chi minh, we came to the luneproduction office but they just accept to do 20% reduction on news tickets, no refund, no exchange possible, even with proof of the delay of our fly by airline attestation! So, don t reserve tickets in advance by internet!

Dear mel2018263,
Thank you very much for the review.
First of all, we would like to express our most sincere apology if the experience disappointed you. We completely understand your frustration.
Unfortunately tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable regardless of any circumstances. These Terms and Conditions which were advised and required to acknowledge by the time of booking. We are sorry if our solution did not meet your expectations but your case was recored as a No show situation and the seats were held unchanged during the whole performance.
Moreover, after checking, we found no email from you besides the one that asked about the E-ticket and our team responded right after receiving it. We are not sure if your second email was sent to the right address or due to any internet corruption, it didn't reach us properly.
Again, we are so sorry for the experience but we had done the best we could to support you. We seek for your kind understanding in this matter.
Kind regards,

Wonderful gymnastic production called Bamboo. The performers used bamboo baskets to perform on. From our seats in the loge, we were able to see the foot work of the dancers.
This was a cross between Cirque Soleil and a ballet. Good for all ages.

We went as a family to see the Bamboo Circus. A thoroughly enjoyable show presenting the change of Vietnamese life from a quite countryside to the busy city it is today. Amazing artistry as well as humor and comic throughout. Incredible skills by the performers. Definitely make it part of your night out!

Nice and undemanding. A way to enter the opera and see the interiors. The show is cute. I recommend buying tickets immediately before the show at the main door and choosing the cheapest tickets (the theater is so small that little changes). If purchased in advance through booking sites they are too expensive for what the show is.

Dear davide_84,
Thank you very much for joining A O show lately and for sharing your impressions. We appreciate your positive feedback and your recommendation to buy tickets right before the show at the main door for the best value. However, we would like to provide some additional information to ensure a complete understanding for potential visitors.
It's always a good idea to consider personal preferences and budget when selecting seats. However, availability may be limited when purchasing tickets right before the show, especially during peak times. The theater may be small, but the seating location can still impact the viewing experience. Lower-priced seats may have a different perspective or limited visibility compared to higher-priced ones. Additionally, buying tickets in advance through booking sites can offer the advantage of securing better seats, as the earlier you purchase, the more options you have to choose from.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, and we hope this additional information helps travelers make informed decisions about purchasing tickets for A O Show.
Kind regards,
Lune Production Team

Watched AO show ten years ago and remembered being utterly impressed with it.
Watched it at Hoi An too but the one here at Saigon just felt funnier and more impactful.
Watching it ten years later with our kids now and they loved it too, especially the "inverted tortoise". Loved that the new version added new interactive elements, where the performers interacted with audience and got some audience participation.
What can be improved?
With the renovation going on, the waiting/holding area where they were giving out complimentary drinks before the show has been pushed to the balcony side of the theatre. Being a dead end, it was a little tight with audiences intuitively wandering towards the balcony / dead end after getting their drinks, wondering where they should head to. Some audiences with second floor seats did not know where to head to, too. It was made more confusing as some audiences collected alcohol, while others wondered if those were complimentary. We stood there for a while and observed that the waiting area was a little chaotic.
Maybe a clear indication of the two types of tickets (i.e. alcohol versus non-alcohol) and a map of direction/ traffic flow printed on the back of the ticket would help.

Great show by fantastic artists and athletes although a bit overpriced compared to broadway or West End shows and especially so compared to prices for most things in HCMC (a high end dinner for example).
I note that Lune productions read all the reviews so I’d use this opportunity to advise that seat C1 on the first floor has a damaged seat cushion that makes it very uncomfortable to sit on for an hour and as well, line of sight is poor as you miss things. I’d suggest floor level seating away from the edges to those planning to go.

If you are looking for a "different" night out this is absolutely worthwhile. Having watched many Circle de Soleil events this production appeared some times a little slow. You will however enjoy the many acts by the very disciplined group in this beautiful opera house.

I don't like Cirque de Soleil and this is not that. These men and women do amazing acrobatic things with baskets and poles. The show is only about an hour. I sat in the 'Wow" section which is lower balcony but wish I'd gone for the cheaper seats right in front of stage. Not a dull moment

Fun show with talented artists. Acrobatics, rhythm, acting and stage show were super good.
It's fun to see the opera from the inside and the service was good throughout the process.
The hall was not completely full, and there were several people who tried to move towards the middle when the show started, but here the staff were quick to say that people should move back.. I don't think anything was lost from letting people go , the seats weren't sold, were they?
Considering the small hall and the content of the show, I would think it is well spent to buy the cheapest tickets, as you can see (almost) just as well from there.

What's the difference between the wow seats (purple) and the ooh seats (green)? Because both are central!?
Written 23 December 2022
The wow seats come with a drink ticket and a tour, you sit in the balcony. Much of the action is at back of the stage. From the balcony you can see it all. The other seats are on the floor, close to the action or far away, with less perspective as you are at or below stage. Makes a difference which you prefer and whether you like floor or balcony.
