Easy to send parcels & postcards! (See below)
For tourism: Lovely & very charming old post office, beautiful architecture and good for photos. I’d absolutely recommend sending a postcard home! (! Please remember- bring your own pen, they charge you to use them if you don’t have one!) You can buy postcards inside the post office for as little as 5,000 and most of them being 30,000dong. Write your postcard out, visit the woman with the stamps (she was the last counter on the right hand side for us) dab them on the wet sponge & pop the postcard in the overflowing basket on the counter. ( it cost about £2 to send each postcard to the UK- 3 stamps need to go onto 1 postcard) For sending parcels overseas: Seems overwhelming at first but is very straight forward, we had been collecting things along our travels and needed to send it home to free up space. We took a big bag of things to the post office, headed straight to the back of the room (to the picture of Ho Chi Minh) where you will find a counter called ‘parcel and items packaging’- you need to fill out forms of what it inside, the quantity and the value of the items, the bag will be weighed & packaged ready to go. As of Oct 2023 we send a parcel around 6.8kg and it cost us around 4 million dong ( about £130) The staff were so helpful & their English is brilliant.

    can get crowded
Visited here on Dec-27,2023 and explored. Outside this post office are many road side stalls selling card cut out art pieces, traditional hats etc. Saw multiple hop on hop off buses stopping here for some time. Inside are souvenir stalls in the perimeter and benches for visitors to sit etc. A portrait of Ho Chi Minh himself adorns the rear wall of this post office.

    Worth seeing when exploring HCMC.
Here’s a reminder of how important post and telecommunications services were in the last century, especially during colonial times when Europeans were dispatched halfway across the world. The building itself is impressive, making a statement in the government quarter. While the interior has preserved phone booths and post office counters where you can send letters by old fashioned snail mail it’s essentially a big souvenir shop with stalls selling all sorts. Handy to see price tickets to base your bargaining on as you continue your travels.

    Really a beautiful place
Saigon Central Post Office is a post office located in the downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It was constructed between 1886 and 1891 when Vietnam was part of French Indochina. The building was designed by Alfred Foulhoux and is often erroneously credited as being the work of Gustave Eiffel or a collaboration between Foulhoux and Hanoi-based Auguste Henri Vildieu. The building is a tourist attraction and counts with Gothic, Renaissance, and French influences. The Saigon Central Post Office is located near the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica, the city’s cathedral. You get all the souvenirs, lots of things like paintings & a variety of beautiful artefacts of Vietnam. A place to visit if anyone is in Hochiming City.

    Beautiful edifice from colonial era
Central post office is one of the most remarkable buildings in Saigon, along with the Opera House, Rex Hotel and few others dating back to colonial era. This iconic post office with huge Ho Chi Minh portrait on the opposite side dates back to late 19c, when it was built by French as a main channel of communication in these days. It's located next door, to the right from the main twin tower Notre Dame Cathedral. It's open daily and pretty busy with both, locals and tourists.

An amazing historical building and popular stop off for tours - can get busy but well worth a visit
The Central Post Office in Saigon / Ho Chi Minh City is an amazing historical building and a popular stop off for tours, indeed I visited as part of a cruise ship excursion to Vietnam and we had around 20 minutes here to pop in and take photos. You could easily spend more time as the building houses not just an operating post office but also many market stalls with gifts and magnets at very decent prices. Our guide said the building was built by Gustave Eiffel's company in the late 1880s but it turns out that it was actually built around the designs of another French architect, Alfred Foulhoux. It's one of the top tourist attractions in the city and can be visited at the same time as the Notre-Dame Basilica and the Opera House (both are located close to here). It's free to enter and well worth having a look inside if visiting central Saigon.

    Be careful with your possesions
I went here because the church was closed. My friend and I just visited around outside the post office to take photo but it's really crowded. I took photos for my friend and left my phone in the front basket of our bike (which we rented). And when we took photo this man took my phone. We freaked out whe we found out that the phone disappeared. And the man showed up, told us that he saw some guy took the phone and run away. He asked us for some money and he would call the guy. This sounded really suspicious so we asked if he took our phone. We even offered to give him money to return it. After a while, he asked us which brand of our phone. When he knew that it's not that valuable. He gave us back, and yelled at us for being careless. Well, w were adsolutely careless when leaving the phone in the basket like that. But this man was unbelievable. Please be careful when you visit HCM City Still rate 5/5 for the post office

Historical elegant post office in Saigon
This is a post office constructed by the French. Open daily until 6 except on Sundays where it closes at 5 pm. Beautiful interior, and it is impressive that in addition to many commercial booths inside, a part of it serves actually as a post office. You will find a section where people sit on wooden benches writing up postcards to be sent to their special ones. Free entry, and worth a visit!

Constructed between 1886-1891 by French Colonialists, this delightful and impressive work of art possesses Renaissance and French inspired architectural details. While inside the still functioning post office, note the intricate marble floors, the old telephone booths and clocks which reflect differing time zones. The soaring arched ceiling and its arched windows lend an additional graceful beauty. The exterior is painted in golden yellow with white trim and green windows, shutters and molding detail. The plaster embellishment above the door is one of the most memorable features, with a large clock below. Attractive wrought iron bracing under the entry's overhead protective cover and lamp posts all contribute to this very pleasing architectural achievement. Numerous overpriced souvenir vendors are located on or near the property, which stands across the road from Notre Dame Cathedral.

The Central post office was designed by Gustave Eiffel - the same architect of the Eiffel tower. It was built during the French colonial period and is probably close to a century old. Enter the post office and you'll notice the immense ceilings, giving you the feeling of a train station and you can't miss the portrait of Ho Chi Minh and the nice phone booths have been turned into ATM machine booths. They sell postcards, stamps and many souvenirs very cheap or at least not overpriced.

As part of a walking tour of Ho Chi Minh City we visited this huge post office. Built over 100 years ago it houses a great deal of history and it’s a super interesting building especially indoors. The ceiling is spectacular, adorned with much elegance.
There are a large number of vendors selling souvenirs and other items, Quite a market place considering it’s a post office. It also does serve as a regular post office and the line was pretty long as many locals and tourists use it. One of the vendors was selling stamps collectible stamps she’s very appropriate.
Outside are some very nice statues

La “Poste centrale de Saïgon“ that I grew up under its wings is still functioning like a well-oiled machine, even on Sundays! I can see the pride and joy in every attendant’s eyes when they serve the public. The majestic building has not lost its charm, its beauty is even more enhanced with the welcome addition of the pedestrian book lane bordering it. Brings back the sweet memories of my youth in Old Saigon. Amazing grace!

The building has it's very own charm and is worth a visit for all architecture interested people. Located conveniently next to the church and just a stone throw away from the opera and all other main sights in town it's worth stopping by on the way to the book street or in between some other inner city visits. That said, the inside and inhabitants aint living up to it's great looks. While the post is still using the building and a few counters are used as intended the majority of the building is packed with souvenir shops and stalls selling the usual products apart from old stamps and collectives. Some of the old features are not in use, up keeping inside is a bit mediocre - overall the full potential isn't used at all and the building suffers from all the vendors. Still, when in the area stop by for a look before going ahead to other places

This massive post office in downtown offers souvenirs and post office memorabilia. Upon our visit, recent graduates posed on the steps in cap and gown, so this is an important and photogenic place for locals.

Offering stunning architecture and interior design, the building dates back to the late 1800s. Even if you’re not up for shopping, step inside for gorgeous photographs of the inside, and visit Notre Dame next door!

This building was built by french in the late 19th century, and you can still buy your postage needs here. As you enter the building, you walk on the beautiful marble floor, and then there are few antique telephone boxes on your left-hand side. Of course, there is a large portrait of Ho Chi Min hanging right above all.

A visit to the Post Office is a must, as it retains much of its old character. It is of course a must visit building so it is full of tourists, as we were, so taking photos was a challenge.
We were advised to eat at the restaurant there, and had planned to take dinner, but on arrival noted that it was a best a hamburger restaurant, not bad if that's what you want but we wanted a more authentic local dinner.
We did take some refreshment which was nicely served, by interested and helpful staff

A mixture of Gothic, Renaissance and French colonial architecture, this is an iconic stop on a tour of the city. Tour guide stated that it was designed by Eiffel, the architect of Paris's Eiffel Tower. Not true. Across the street from the Cathedral and close to the famous roof top from where American helicopters evacuated civilians at the end the "American" war (as the Vietnamese call it), it is now a mixture of post office, souvenir shops and memorabilia. I found it interesting. Lots of picture taking crowds inside and out. Real local stuff.

A fantastic French Colonial architecture building having Roman archesxand gilded glass windows. This building houses old telephone boxes and historical
Pictures. I first visited in Dec 2019 and its a must visit place anytime a visitor is in Saigon now renamed Ho Chi Ming city.
Visitors queue up to post letters home to get a much prized Date stamp bookmark on their letters.
Right next in the square is the Notre Dame Cathedral another must visit place.
