We initially planned our trip to Vietman before Covid. We finally did our 9 day cycling trip in Vietnam finally this year in December. Despite 4 years in the making, Ms Ly always answered all our inquiries, changes. The tour was perfectly planned and executed. We had three tour guides, one in the north, one for cycling from Hue to the South and one for the Delta after our visit in Saigon.
The reliability of the guides, the communication and last minute assistance from VBT was amazing. My MTB frame was too small, so they organised a larger one over night and couried it 400 km over night. My wife needed an urgent entry visa into Vietnam on our return to Singpore (but through Saigon) and it was organised within 1 day. Amazing.
Cycling was totally save. Before big cities we jumped into the bus and drove to the hotels. The hotels were all of high standard and except for one all very good choices by the organisers.
Coming from a low population density country myself, Vietnam coast was a bit crowded for my liking, that is may be one point to consider. The highlands might be an idea as well.
VBT also organised our trip to Angkor Wat and to an island in Cambodia.
You can fully trust them, they do an outstanding job.

The team has been nothing but amazing. Their understanding of my needs for a custom standalone tour, the quality of the path chosen to the electric bike and the support during it and after has been spectacular. I can only recommend them to anyone willing to experience the center of Vietnam by bike! Thanks a lot!

Vietnam Bike Tours made for us (a group of 16) an 11-day trip from Saigon through Mekong Delta to Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat. Everything was done on the highest level: itinerary, planning, guiding, logistics, bikes, lodging, food. Very professional team. Honest quoting, no hidden costs. Strongly recommend these guys, and wish them all the best!

My husband and I took a five day trip with Vietnam Bike Tours from Saigon to Phnom Penh and enjoyed every minute of it! Our guide, Thang, made the trip seamless even though it was over Tet! Although we started with a basic itinerary, we were all open to the unexpected opportunities that might arise during this time of celebration in the country side -- local gatherings for Tet, a wedding, dancing dragons on the bike path, etc. He also tailored the tour to meet our interests and needs (like my insatiable search for coffee). Highly recommend this org and Thang as a guide!

What an amazing, authentic experience we had cycling for 9 days from outside HCMC to Angkor Wat. My husband and I are active but not cyclists and loved cycling through the villages along the Mekong and experiencing the difference in the Vietnam and Cambodian cultures. The Guides were very knowledgeable, flexible and supportive and we learnt so much from them. The accommodation and food was great and we loved eating with the locals. From the time I first contacted this company to the end of the tour we have had professional service. Ly, the office manager was awesome and very prompt to deal with. We bought bike pants and gloves before we left home and luckily we bought sleeves at the markets in HCMC the day before the cycle because the UV is really strong. I ended up wearing a t-shirt over my head to cover part of my face and neck so in hindsight we should have been better prepared for the long periods in the sun. We are so glad we did the cycling tour as part of our holiday, it was certainly a highlight and we highly recommend.

It turned out we were the only participants which was wonderful, and Quang, our super guide, then modified the original plan to suit our needs. Quang was always trying to find things for us to do and see and eat that he knew would suit us, and was helpful and inventive with bike problems. With him we had some wonderful experiences of Vietnam and we will always be grateful for his energy and kindness. I cant imagine a better guide.
The company responded well when we encountered problems with our forward travel plans and moved energetically to help us rebook flights etc. They were a caring outfit.
We paid extra to hire ebikes and this was the only bad part of the service. We are tall Europeans and we found the ebikes provided were too small in frame. We could not position the saddles sufficiently far back and had to sit off the saddle which was uncomfortable and gave us sores. In addition when we had a problem with a brake the mechanical support took a long time to make contact and solve the problem, meaning our whole day's cycling had to be rearranged. There was also an issue with one battery which leaked charge, meaning we had to limit our speed and shorten the distances between recharging. Vietnam Bike Tours gave us a decent refund for these troubles but they perhaps need to use a different ebike company.
It was the only blot on a very good bike tour.

Dear MimiYorkshire
Thank you for your candid review. And happy to hear that you have enjoyed the bike tour a lot. We're our best to serve with quality bike (push-bike), but sounds a bit problem with this tour-e-bike. We will train our people more to catch up with the new e-bike standard. Thanks for your support and understanding!

We took a one day bike tour to the Mekong delta. It was indescribably wonderful! Our guide, Loc Lythang, was amazing…he had grown up in the delta and his love for this area is evident in his knowledge and willingness to explain and show us so many features unique to this marvelous area of the world! We went thru rice farms, jack fruit and durian farms, dragonfruit farms, small villages, boat on the Mekong River, delicious lunch, loganberry wine, ferry ride, and of course Vietnamese coffee! So many friendly warm people……Many many “hellos” followed with huge smiles and giggles. Just delightful! Loc also planned the trip perfectly, as we biked half of our kms in the cool morning and then took our boat ride and lunch during the hot mid day, followed by the rest of our biking in the cool, breezy late afternoon. An unforgettable day! We would go again and definitely would ask for Loc to be our guide!

During 4 days of biking, Danh gave us a perfect, authentic insight into the lives of the people in the Mekong Delta. The choice of accommodation (home stay and hotels) suited us perfectly. The choice of route away from the main roads and mass tourism was perfect. We felt safe and well accompanied at all times. We were prepared for a more physically demanding tour - given the climatic conditions and the many interesting sights and background information, the pace was a good fit. Danh kept surprising us with little things and also supported us well in the further planning of our trip. Many thanks for the very good service from Danh, the driver of the support vehicle and the people responsible for the tour in the background.

This was the best thing I did on my trip to Vietnam! It was smooth runnings from start to finish. Our tourguide Phuc met us at our hostel a few minutes early but was more than happy to wait for us to finish our breakfast. He was polite and courteous throughout and spoke excellent English. We were guided through stunning vistas and met some lovely local farmers who seemed genuinely pleased to see us rather than seemingly like they were being watched. Phuc made sure he went at our pace and that we were kept topped up with water and food throughout. The price may seem high for Vietnam, but we can assure you it is well worth it. My partner and I were on our own for the tour which made it a bit more pricey but I'm sure it's good with others in the group as well. We aren't anything like professional cyclists, we just poodle about a bit on holidays and the pace and climate were perfect. We thought the heat might be too much but actually because you have the wind going past you the whole time, it's cooler than walking around in the heat. Phuc told us so much about what we were seeing but also left us to enjoy the scenery for much of the time as well. The homestay in the middle of the two days was superb! We even had a cooking lesson and got to eat the produce! Logistics are easily managed and smooth as a button. Please choose this tour - you won't regret it!

Local cyclists took us on tours that showed the most intimate parts of Vietnam. The food choices, snacks, and continuous education made the tour perfect. Understanding history, culture, and current events with an English speaking guide was more than we could've hoped for.

Is The Saigon countryside tour (1/2 day cycling) all in countryside roads, with nature/greenery or is it just less busy area of the city? How far out of the city does the tour start and the actual route?

Thanks for considering our service.
For your information:
- We will cycle on countryside roads, single tracks with nature, cycle along ride paddies
- The distance of cycling is flexible depends on your ability and desire, about 20-30km on the day and we will transfer by van in about 1-1,5 hours to the cycling starting point.
Thanks again!

Hi Sallyrossjackson, how did you find the long disances, and did you do much, (if any) Training? We intend to visit Vietnam in December and my fitness is basic. Any advice would be appreciated!

hi, it's late to answer. But tours can fit anybody, if you're leisure cyclist, cycle less km, if you're pro-cyclist, cycle more distance.

Hello, we are doing the 3 day Mekong Delta tour.
Do you have any recommendations regarding clothing? Specifically, do we need saddle covers or padded cycling shorts? Thank you.

Vietnam Bike Tours provide saddle covers. I would recommend padded shorts.
Written 15 May 2016
Yes we recommend : $8/day for guide and $5/day for driver. It can be more or less depends on how much you enjoyed the tour.
