Quick bit of fun

It's a well put together bit of fun. It lasts about 30 minutes and cost 60dong. For this you can't grumble. Pipes are not my thing but none the less it was an intresting way to... read more

The Hong Ha Theater, which from a flyer sounds like is part of the Vietnam Tuong Theater, offers a show for tourists that runs on Mondays and Thursdays. We happened to walk by it on a Monday and thought it would be interesting to see something from the Vietnamese culture. They advertise an hour-long performance for 150,000 dong/pp and that... More

Happened to be walking past just before the show started and ended up going in to see what it was. Got to dress up in the costumes and pose on the giant golden throne which was cool. The show was great in a slapstick kind of way, the costumes were amazing and it was an interesting aspect of vietnamese culture... More

This could have been a fun show if they had bothered to share some of the story in the expensive glossy flier you picked up or done some translation caption on wall while the singing was happenings. The first 10 minutes of observing the traditional instruments and the singing were nice but after that I had no clue what was... More

It would have been a beautiful 45 minute show but unfortunately they allow cameras and filming devices so all the 8 rows in front of us were camera screens and huge iPads! Most annoying, because it was extremely had to see any of the show! Try to get front row seats so you can enjoy it. Great story lines, singing... More

It's something unique to Hanoi I believe and clearly a very old tradition. At 45 minutes it's a bit longer than necessary, but certainly something of a must-see. Kids would probably like it.

The performance is quite amazing. (The puppets in the water). And the woman who sing the song and also narration has so so beautiful voice. Overall, the show worth to see since you can learn their lifestyle, culture and tradition from the performance. But the worst thing is the seat. They are so tight and very uncomfortable. If you are... More

It was very clever and entertaining. IT was great to see such an old art being maintained by the younger generation

Get ready to be blown away -- truly! imagining some hard to follow, arcane and unengaging piece of somewhat amateurish theatre -- WRONG! The acting, music, movements and costumes make this truly a glorious spectacle. They had us from the first moment with the dancing dragons. I have never seen such a fully integrated piece of theatre (acting, music, movements,... More
