It is impressive what they do with the water puppets but the chairs are too small and the story is for children. Many of us almost felt asleep

Worth a visit for its artistic quality and puppetry skills. However be prepared for a lengthy performance, an hour in total, where as half an hour would have been more enjoyable. Book in advance for choice of performance times.

Gets big reviews...it is fun...old and young..but after 5 or 10 minutes for anyone over 15, it wears thin. Music is very good...the puppets are amazing...how do they do it? A local phenomena but it held by attention for about 10 minutes....remember they love it...

While the water puppet theatre is listed as a tourist attraction everywhere I wouldn't recommend it particularly if your time in Hanoi is short. I know it's traditional and been around for hundreds of years and I'm sure it's very highly skilled but I traveled...More

Several locals recommended we go here so decided to on our last night. It's not expensive and lasts less than an hour. The seating organisation was a little messy as they just write your seat number on your ticket which lead to someone having the...More

The show itself was fun and all of the performers and musicians are great. However during the show the air con grid above me leaked and dripped down my back. NOT FUN. Seating not very spacious for those that are tall/have long legs.

it was the first time I had seen a Water Puppet show and I was enthralled through the whole experience. Our seats were about 4 rows back from the front which offered us a wonderful close up view of the puppets.

Hi, yes that's true, though it didn't seem to stop most of the audience. I think if you elect to pay the small fee (50,000vnd for still, more for video) you get preferential seating on front row.
