Justly deserves the many previous reviews and this very clever and unique performance is spellbinding. Important to get good seats near the front-we prebooked these on Viator( the Tripadvisor companion company) and were delighted.

As the language used was only Vietnamese, it does not make the show interesting. Perhaps a brief outline of the stories told could be made available in various other languages

This was certainly a show with a difference ... colourful, entertaining and culturally interesting. The combination of puppets, traditional music and singing was a treat, but just a tad too long for my liking - it was all in Vietnamese, so i didn't understand the storyline (if there was one?); enjoyed none the less :)

It's rather unusual type of art. Basically puppets in water controlled with bamboo sticks. It's useful if you read some history prior visiting because you'd be able to recognise what's happening on the stage.

The Water Puppet theater is situated just off Ho Hoan Kiem lake near the "red bridge". It's a theater version of the traditional way pupet shows were created in the water of the rice fields. Everything is in Vietnamese, but if anything it just adds to the experience. Live music, a great variation of puppets that are handled on long... More

One almost has to go to the Water Puppets when in Vietnam - a form of entertainment that was born in the rice fields and continues without much change. The vignettes are interesting old stories accompanied by accomplished musicians, but perhaps the repetitions in actions are somewhat lost on Westerners. If you can suspend your desire for wild CG effects,... More

A great evening of a very unique performance. For only US$4.50. Many of the performances sell out so get your tickets in advance. Check it out on YouTube
