This is a must see in hanoi. You can find everything here including shops and bars and food places. Yes it is busy and noisy but welcome to vietnam! Becareful of the speeding motorcycles especially in the early evening.

What a pleasure to walk in the streets of the old quarter : restaurants, shops of all sorts (clothes, haberdasheries, made in Vietnam shops, toys, wonderful lacquered objects, glasses, and more). Not to be missed delicious soups served in the street. A little difficult to walk due to the fact that there quite a bit of circulation on the streets... More

an experience to cherish, you must go through a street style food tour if you want to savor and soak in the sights and flavors of Hanoi. It is advisable to take suggestions from a few locals.

If staying in Hanoi this is the place to be to really experience the city. It is full of everyday people going about their lives despite the tourists.

If you're not a seasoned traveler you might be taken back by the poverty & trash & of course the traffic, but don't let this keep you from venturing down each & every street & alley. This is a safe place with excellent shopping & food. When you get used to the uncountable number of scooters going in every direction,... More

I'd recommend it very highly. There will be a lot of road crossing, dodging motorbikes and cars, stepping over power cords from electric repairers, smelling great and not so great odors, observing the working class at their respective trades and so much more. A real gritty and honest place. We never felt in danger at all crossing any roads and... More

The Old Quarter has its own characteristic and we enjoyed walking around and stopping for good Vietnamese coffee and snacks.

The streets are full of shops, scooters, and Veitnamese people. There were many places with street food to try if you are keen. Great area to take in at a leisurely pace and some shopping as well.
