Lacquer paintings and political art are the highlights, off the beaten path from the art usually seen by western tourists, and zero crowds even on the Tet holiday

It's relatively cheap to get into this museum. There are two buildings -- although it is a bit tricky to find your way into the second one. So, as another reviewer remarks, take a map and follow your journey throughout the different galleries. There's a gift shop on the second floor, which seems more like a typical souvenir stall you'd... More

This museum is right across the street from the Temple of Literature, so you can visit both very easily. I am puzzled why this museum doesn't receive more rave reviews. The paintings in particular are beautiful. You can see the influence of European artists in some of the art, while some is purely Vietnamese. The lacquer paintings are also very... More

An introduction to Asian art... I've visited many art galleries in Europe and in South America and few in Asia and this was the first one that made me realize that while in Europe we had our Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, etc. style, certain parts of Asia went through similar periods. A whole new world, opening up in front of... More

My partner is in his his third year for fine arts and so I thought I would take him here to experience fine art under South East Asian influence. He enjoyed it thoroughly and as for myself who is not really all that interested in art, found it fascinating as well. We spent 2 hours here without noticing. It's worth... More

This is an excellent art museum, that starts in the lower level with a superb ceramic collection and goes up several floors to see all the art forms collected from Vietnamese artists over the centuries. Give yourself a lot of time or come back a second time!

I would rate this a must see. The museum offers a wide variety of artwork, from current, to Hindu/Buddhist, patriotic, statues, contemporary, etc. The works are of good quality and admission is less than two bucks.

We like to find the Fine Arts Museums in the capital cities we visit becaue it gives us a window on what's going on in the life of a country and city that would be hard to see while walking around neighborhoods. Contemporary art as well as classical art gives one a chance to see under the fabric of busy... More

It is fully worth spending some time in this Museum. Beautiful drawings and beautiful statues and other objects. If you are not in a hurry good place to spend at least two hours . Well maintained. Clean and tidy. It is interesting not only for foreigners but also for the locals. Vietnamese have every reason to be proud of this... More
