Hanoi Cooking Centre established in 2009, remains Hanoi's only purpose...

Hanoi Cooking Centre established in 2009, remains Hanoi's only purpose built cooking school and culinary centre. A variety of cooking classes and street food tours are available twice daily.

All classes begin with welcome tea, while a chef gives a brief introduction to the local Chau Long market and Vietnamese market culture generally. After a 3 minute walk guests arrive at the market and are immediately submerged into the hustle, bustle and wonder of one of the last remaining wet markets in Hanoi. Our chef will explain the produce and offer various samples along the way. After returning to the centre you will then participate in a 'hands-on' cooking class and the morning / afternoon finishes in our air-conditioned restaurant where you and your class mates can enjoy the dishes you have prepared along with free flow drinks. All guests receive a complimentary and much sort after Hanoi Cooking Centre apron and recipe cards. Class + lunch = approximately 3.5hrs

For guests preferring a more adventurous time, our 5 hour street food tour also includes the market tour and then takes guests to 5 of the best known (amongst the locals and our HCC staff) street food venues across Hanoi. The number 1 rule for this tour = come hungry!

For guests with limited time try our Market Tour & Lunch or Dinner package for a truly authentic Hanoi culinary experience.

We had a private Street Food Class with Chef Hung, and really learned lots on our market tour of Chau Long market and returned to the kitchen where we prepared Pho, omelette spring rolls and Bun Cha. It was a very professional kitchen and we learned about and prepared each dish quite methodically. Then we ate our creations at the... More

Overall, I had a very good experience at the Hanoi Cooking Centre (HCC). By taking all 6 courses on offer, I got a discount on the courses and also a discount on the cookbooks (3) penned by Tracy Lister, the Australian founder. It appears, however, that Tracy Lister is no longer involved with the HCC. Nonetheless, I found the instructors... More

Had a wonderful evening at Hanoi Cooking Centre this evening - went straight home to write about it! Must have experience - really knowledgeable chef and team and an informative, lighthearted evening with DELICIOUS food to finish it off! We were welcomed in with tea in the courtyard, given complimentary beer/wine and partnered up to try our hand at some... More

Start by visiting the Market and learning about the choices available. Off to the kitchen and learn how to prepare 6 different dishes, them upstairs to eat them. Beer and Wine included. Great day.

I had a 7 hour layover in Hanoi so I booked a private street food tour with Hanoi Cooking Centre. Chef Bo was my guide and he was excellent. My flight was delayed slightly but he suggested we take his moped and we managed to see many different street food styles in 2 hours. I'm sure the 4 hour walking... More

To our delight, we were the only two on a street food tour led by the head chef of the Hanoi Cooking center. Talk about personal attention! The tour was well timed, with four food stops, a visit to the market, and a wrap up at a coffe establishment. Well worth the cost,

I think most people are commenting about the cooking classes, but as a local, I'm here every day to escape the office and have lunch and coffee. Great staff, great food, very chilled out and a beautiful rooftop area to sit and relax.

We thoroughly enjoyed this cooking class. The chef was fun, friendly and helpful. The class was hands-on and we went through everything step by step. We got to keep the recipes and aprons and I feel confident that I can make the menu again at home after this class. Visiting the market was fun because the chef seemed to know... More
