First off, the cruise itself with the crew and activities was amazing. Maybe a bit too many food options but otherwise really good! Suggestion would be to increase portion and decease the number of courses. That said, there are some things that did not add to our experience.
- on the way back after the cruise, there was a mandatory stop at a water puppet show that was not part of the itinerary sent to us. This made the drive a total of 4 hours and with traffic, 5! We reached 1.5 hours later than what was planned and it kind of messed up the evening we had planned in Hanoi. This really negatively impacted the good feeling we had after the cruise itself.
- there needs to be either a minimum age for the boat OR passengers need to have an option to choose an adult only boat. A screaming baby’s echoes through the bay, is not the experience I paid 200 dollars for. None of the boat facilities or the activities are designed to be baby friendly so we were really uncomfortable. We would’ve preferred to be at least given a choice or be given a heads up about this.

The staff on board the Dragon Pearl 1 were super nice and fulfilled all our wishes. On Christmas Eve, the tour guide organized a Christmas party for all the guests. This came as a complete surprise and was a great experience for all the guests on the ship, as we all got to know each other that evening. The excursions were also great and the food was excellent. The ship is a bit older and the cabins are showing their age accordingly. Overall, the whole package was really great.

The Indochina Dragon Pearl junk was an incredible experience. We booked the 2 day, 1 night experience and it has been an absolute highlight of our trip to North Vietnam.
The views were breathtaking and we really enjoyed travelling to the Bai Tu Long bay. The karst formations are beyond words!
Coco and the team were wonderful: friendly, helpful and just so much fun to be around. They even sang karaoke with them.
The food is plentiful and delixious. We got to try so many wonderful seafood dishes. The water is free and they're trying to limit their use of single use plastic.
We went to a secluded island to see a cave, which gave us the opportunity to go kayaking and swimming. The water was warm and lovely after a hot day.
My favourite part was the floating fishing village, which in a protected and controlled area.
I cannot recommend this cruise enough.

We did a one night / two day tour on the dragon pearl with another family and our children and it was the absolute best! The staff were amazing & our tour guide Coco was so lovely… the perfect type of host, super helpful and friendly with a great sense of humour.
The scenery of Halong bay is breathtaking and we loved the kayaking, swimming & cave tour.
The food was probably the best food we have eaten in our two week stay in Vietnam and there was so much of it!
We highly recommend this tour!

I highly recommend this trip. This small 10 cabin junk cruised in the not so busy area of Bai Tu. After we left the Ha long Harbour the only time we were in sight of other boats was in the evenings when we anchored. Uninterrupted views, felt like we were alone on this ocean. The crew were amazing. They were friendly, helpful and made sure we were all comfortable. The cabins were compact but perfectly adequate with comfortable beds and good showers. The meals were varied and showcased Vietnamese cusine. My only criticism would be that there was too much food! 3 day 2 nights were ideal.

This cruise is 100% worth your time, money and energy! I’m glad we did the 2-night cruise because it’s effort just to get to Halong Bay. I felt like we did a lot in our time together, yet it felt relaxing. Popular for everyone. We were a mix of families, couples & sole travellers.
We went as a young couple with 14 other people and it was one of the greatest experiences to date in Vietnam. The staff are endlessly generous and attentive to your needs, we had 8-course lunches and dinners (freshly caught seafood too). The scenery was gorgeous and we loved kayaking and having lunch on the beach.

Excellent cruise on the Dragon's Pearl Junk, under a beautiful sun. the boat is very well maintained. The service is perfect, the meals are delicious. We had a cabin facing the rear, so great views. The loungers above are very comfortable. We were able to kayak, sail a smaller boat to the fishing village and visit a place where oysters are farmed and pearls made.

What an amazing experience! We did the 3 day, 2 night trip around Bai Tu Long Bay on the Dragon Pearl. The cabin was clean and comfy with big windows and incredible views of the archipelagos. The food was delicious, we ate so well, sitting outside for dinner under the stars or watching the scenery pass by. Coco and all the staff on board looked after us so well, we went kayaking, did a cooking course, had a BBQ on the beach, swimming, exploring caves... It was my birthday whilst on board and they had arranged a surprise cake for me :) the boat itself is great, space to sunbathe and quiet so you feel like you're the only boat on the whole bay. Can not recommend it highly enough!

What an amazing tour. Our guide BomBay was sensational. The team on board were so kind and friendly. Our room was spotless. The food was incredible but I am a s3afood lover but seafood for breakfast was too much. We had a great time swimming on the beach and visiting the fishing village.

Very relaxing cruise. Slow paced with good food. The activities were fun and well suited if you're looking to take it easy. We also spent a lot of time reading on the ship.

Hi, we are booked on the Dragon Pearl in November. We booked directly with Indochina-junk. Just wondering if there is any difference among the cabins - location, noise, too close to kitchen. Should I ask for a particular cabin? Thanks in advance for your help!

We were the first cabin on the lower deck near the bow. No problem with engine noise there. I think the upper deck rooms were nicer, though. Just keep in mind more like camping than a hotel. If we had to do over, would have tried to find a nicer boat.

Was food and drink included in the price of the cruise? Forgive me, I've never actually incorporated a cruise as part of my travel plans before so not sure what's included/what isn't.

I have seen the Dragon Pearl advertised on indochina-junk (. C o m ) and would like to know if this is the correct and legitimate website. After reading that some people have been scammed into fake branded cruises I would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction with booking a cruise for my solo trip next May. Do I book online before hand or should I book once I’m there? Any advice would be appreciated

Bonjour,
