We had a choice on board our boat in the morning, you could go to the beach or go to the caves. Most of the people on our boat opted for the caves. If you are not good on your feet, then this is not for you. We were very lucky, as most of the tourist would not travel due to the corona virus. That made it good for us, as there were only 20 of us.Interesting to know that many many years ago people lived in these caves, and you will see evidence of this and more.

We went on a 4-hour cruise around Ha Long Bay, including lunch, organised as part of a Viking river cruise. Towards the end of the cruise, we visited the equally amazing Golden Cave complex - massive caves with all the stalectites, stalegmites and wonderful rock formations you could wish for. Definitely not disabled friendly but good, firm steps throughout. It could be the highlight of the holiday but, as it's only day 2, only time will tell.

Mother Nature is simply amazing, it’s so fascinating witnessing the cave and how it looks like inside. The cave is actually quite big so you can take your time slowly admire the structures and the beauty of nature.

Likes:
Nice and impressive cave.
Steps good for a walk.

BIG dislikes:
This is an overcrowded tourist attraction. Thousands of tourists are crawling like ants on the stairs and taking pictures.
And the tourist guides are using laserpointers to show out the figures in the cave. Very annoying on your photographs and video.

This is a MUST visit if you are in Halong Bay. One can spend hours just sitting in there & be taken in by the surrounding, lights, shapes & forms, truly amazing & impressive!

We stopped right here along with the day of ours long cruise through Halong Bay. Certainly, just like others reported, it had been very loaded and we would to pause and hold on somewhat in line. Although, it was a gorgeous sight to see this specific natural wonder. You will find scores of stairs you've increasing and down. Had incredible picture opportunities

Our tour guide took us to Thien Cung Cave (Heaven Cave) which was discovered in 1993 by a fishermen who stopped by this cave area to avoid the storm and accidentally explored this large cave when he saw the monkeys jumped into a narrow cave hole and followed them. He entered the cave and found that it was a large cave with numerous stalactites and stalagmites, it formed a heavenly view with the sun rays through cave stock shined on the pillar form of stalactites and stalagmites, it looked like a palace in heaven, and thus the cave is named Thien Cung (天宫), means the Palace of Heaven.

What I am impressed the most is the reflection of the shadow of a young lady on the rock that look real. She is a beautiful goddess descending from heaven. When she took off her clothes and bathed in the water, a General saw her and took her clothes away. The goddess could not return to the heaven without her celestial clothes. The General wanted her to stay with him but she refused, so the General left her in the cave without giving her back the celestial clothes. As time goes by, she turned to a rock and her shadow stays on the rock in this cave forever. A folktale which does not have a happy ending where everybody living happily ever after...

Halong Bay is a brilliant natural wonder. The amazing scenery dotted with islets are able to make this an excellent semi sheltered. typically there are many sandy dune, hidden stalagmite caves which created by wind. I visited the cave. It's colorful and amazing. A person can cruise among 3000 small limestone islets, and love the breath taking view of this World Heritage site. Probably The largest cave I've in the past been to... Well preserved, effectively presented... A refreshing change of perspective!

Unfortunately the caves are visited by large numbers each day and it is hard to fully appreciate the beauty of the caves when surrounded by such large crowds.
