Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest. The outstanding value of the property is centered around the drowned limestone karst landforms, displaying spectacular pillars with a variety of coastal erosional features such as arches and caves which form a majestic natural scenery. The repeated regression and transgression of the sea on the limestone karst over geological time has produced a mature landscape of clusters of conical peaks and isolated towers which were modified by sea invasion, adding an extra elemant to the process of lateral undercutting of the limstone towers and islands.

One of its kind in nature without any comparison on earth. Wonderful. One needs to take boat or better cruise to appreciate it. The haze during our visit made it imperfect though.

We are group of 5 and arranged a great cruise via HALONG SAPA EXPERTS website. We stayed at one triple cabin and one double cabin(both on second floor) with balcony. We got great things to do: kayaking, visited caves and floating fishing village as well as islands, we require for vegetarian food and they arranged great food at meals for... More

What an amazing place this is! If you can, take a three day cruise and explore the more remote parts of the bay. I fully recommend the Au Co Cruise company which run beautiful ships. The limestone landscape is quite spectacular, particularly at dawn and in the setting sun. And there many activities to enjoy. Visit the spectacular caves, particularly... More

This is my first holiday in Vietnam. My friends said that this is highlight of my trip so don't miss it. It is wonderful, quite place. I can't imagine that there are nearly 2000 islands there. It is such a paradise to relax and cool you down after working like crazy. Water is clean and clear, had a good time... More

You may expect the most beautiful scenery one can imagine. Had been there for 2 days trip from Hanoi. It's important to choose a good trustworthy tour! Make sure you choose your cruise company well. Recreation included beaches, pearl farm, floating village, kayaks and more. Food was more than you could eat and delicious, rooms were comfortable. Spent a night... More

Spending a night in Halong Bay is something you should do. You will not be on your own, but that doesn't matter. Pick a Company with good reputation, not all the boats on the water are of high quality.

I went to Halong for a two day trip, and stayed in a hotel. And we went for å 6 hours cruise in Halong Bay. And that was fantastic scenery there. The bad thing is that it's a lot of tourist there, you feel like you walking in a queue when we went to see the cave in one of... More

Halong Bay is a must see, the feeling while you are there is quite difficult to describe, I personally felt like being in another world. Now I understand why so many people think that this place is so special. Very happy that I had the chance to see it at least once in my lifetime.
