My favourite monument in all our travels. We were on an 8-day Easy Rider trip and our guide kept saying he wanted to show us the statue of the 'Crying Mother' which was an intriguing thought. The name is very apt. This monument represents those families that were torn apart in 1954 when Vietnam was split into North and South... More

If you are a young Vietnamese growing up after the war, Hien Luong bridge over Ben Hai river is really worth visit. The DMZ marks 21 year separation of the South and the North (1954 - 1975), which is still seen as the blue painted part of Hien Luong bridge (symbolizes the peace of the North) and the yellow painted... I visited this place as part of my easy motorbike trip. A museum guide will explain the history of this place. There are some maps, old photographs with explanations, artifact such as the loudhailers used by both North & South sides to to broadcast propaganda. Just outside the museum is the bridge linking the North & South Vietnam. It is a... More

The DMZ is an interesting place to visit for people who enjoy history. Otherwise, it will probably be a boring experience. There is really not much to see or do there. 20 minutes should be sufficient for visiting this site.

U'll be taken to a museum and to understand the history of the DMZ ... one of the most heavily bombed places... The old demilitarised zone in Vietnam is basically a must-see for history lovers. We joined a local tour costing 23 USD a person. Luckily our tour guide was one who was able to speak fluent English, but I am sure not everyone is so fortunate. Two of my friends who went on the tour two days before encountered a guide... More

Once the most heavily bombed strip of land in the world, a bridge connects the areas formerly designated as North and South Vietnam. If you're in the area it is more than worth a visit.

We were told by our guide that there wasn't much to see at the DMZ and he said its not worth the journey. We had reservations once we heard this and wondered whether to go or not. We decided to take the chance and went. So glad we did! It was really interesting and the tour was very interactive. You... More

We took a tour through the DMZ with what appears to be one of only a couple of companies that run them all. It was an absolute highlight of our trip and definitely worth doing. Our guide spoke perfect English and was incredibly friendly and helpful. The driver however had us afraid for our lives multiple times (and not in... More

The museum has a nice photo collection which gives a good impression of what was going on here during he war. However, if you really want some background information on the bridge and the monument, we advise you to visit the site with a guide. Overall a must see if you're interested in the Vietnam war.
