Our trekking was wonderful!!!
We booked a 3 days - 2 nights trekking in advance by e-mail. Communication went smooth.
Expect wonderfull views, good food and amazing accomodations to sleep.
Our guide was Au (Au La La). With 17 years of experience and roots in one off the villages we visited, he did the best job as a trekking guide.
Next to that we were amazed by his cooking skills!!
Thanks Chiang Mai trekking and especially Au for this amazing 3 days!

I recently completed the 3-day trek with Piroon Trekking in Chiang Mai, and it was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Our guide, JoJo, was simply phenomenal – his passion for the mountains, deep knowledge of the local culture, and great sense of humor made the entire journey feel like an adventure with friends rather than a tour.
The trek itself was beautifully organized, taking us through stunning landscapes of lush jungles, serene rivers, and remote hill tribe villages. Each day offered a new level of goodness. JoJo took the time to introduce us to the local tribes, explaining their customs and traditions in a way that was both respectful and enlightening.
JoJo’s went above and beyond what any guide that i have ever worked with, his guidance made us feel safe and cared for throughout the hike, whether it was navigating tricky trails or preparing delicious meals by the campfire. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he was always ready to share fascinating stories or point out the local wildlife and plants. He even taught us some basic Thai phrases, to be respectful to the local people which added a special touch to the experience.
If you’re looking for an authentic trekking experience in Chiang Mai, Piroon’s 3-day trek is an absolute must. JoJo went above and beyond to make this adventure truly memorable, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly. I left the trek not only with beautiful memories but also with a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty and cultural richness of northern Thailand. Thank you, JoJo and Piroon Trekking, for an unforgettable journey!

This trip was absolutely unique and breathtaking! Everything was perfectly organized, and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. As a group of 10, we had an amazing time, and our tour guide, Dash, was simply the best—funny and entertaining throughout the whole experience. This tour is 100% worth it, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. It’s an absolute must!

We really enjoyed the tour in a group with our guide Chai! Especially the rainforest really impressed us despite the dry season. The first night we had a breathtaking view from our mountain hut, including beautiful sunrise the next morning! The 2. Day was quite exhausting, but was completely worth it. We walked through Karen villages, tropical dry forest and rice paddies (which unfortunately had already been harvested in March). At noon we had a longer break during which the village's own elephant visited us - that was a very special experience! On the last day we took the bamboo raft through beautiful tropical rainforest landscape...a damp butt was our constant companion ...
The whole tour was well organized and described appropriately in the tender.
With Chai we had a guide who not only guided us well through nature and provided us with typical information and life wisdom ('sabai, sabai'). He cooked us stunningly delicious, Thai several times a day and was always looking after our well-being (slower trekkers were taken into consideration ...). Thank you for this special experience!

Today we returned from a two-day + overnight trek, in one word: fantastic! The route, the nature, the views, the hospitality, the delicious food: it was a truly special experience. Me and my wife were the only two registrations (low season), which we initially thought was a shame because a larger group is often more fun.
However, the opposite turned out to be true: our guide JoJo made it a party, and he combined knowledge and humor during the entire trip. He also always indicated what the plan was and what we could expect, but we were also given the freedom to stay somewhere longer or shorter. All in all a very special and positive experience, where everything was well organised.

Enjoyed an amazing trekking of 3 days. I went alone and joined a group of other solo travelers. We were 7 and paid 4000/pp. We slept in local villages and enjoyed the most delicious Thai meals. Unfortunately we couldn't do the bamboo rafting due to the water levels, but our guide, Dong, always found good alternatives. We walked 3h the first afternoon, 3h the next morning and 2.5h in the afternoon. On the last day we walked another 1.5h in the morning, before we went to feed the elephants and visited a butterfly and orchid garden. They have a good website with all the information on the trekking and they are easily reachable through WhatsApp too. I was super grateful for their flexibility (had to change the number of nights I would stay) and for keeping my reservation without advance payment. I can recommend bringing enough spare clothes as you might end of hiking 3 days in the rain. You will have to carry your own stuff throughout the hike, but you can buy water in each village, so bring some money (there's also an opportunity to buy souvenirs).

My girlfriend and I just got back from the 3 day/2 night trekking tour and have had the most amazing experience.
We had Jojo as our guide who wore many hats of jungle guide, chef, bamboo raft captain, comedian and dad of the group. He is so positive and humorous, and made us feel safe and supported during the trek.
Over the 3 days we were treated to amazing views of the area, learnt a lot about the rural villages we stayed in and had a smile on our faces the whole time, as well as eating some amazing local Thai dishes along the way.
Piroon and Jit (and their gorgeous golden retriever) were very accommodating when we stayed in the guest house before and after the trek, allowing us to leave our luggage in the room during the trek and giving us excellent recommendations of things to do in Chiang Mai.
We can’t thank Jojo and the team enough for giving us an unforgettable 3 days. We would thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone staying in the Chiang Mai area.

We had so much fun on the 3day/2 night trek! JoJo was the best guide - he was energetic, fun and an amazing cook. The trip included 2 days of hiking and one day of bamboo rafting. The first day was about 4 hrs of hiking at a manageable pace. Hiking shoes were very helpful as it had rained recently and was slippery. The second day included about 6 hrs of hiking total, along with a visit to see the elephant. The final day included a bamboo raft down the river. The forest and scenery was very pretty, and the villages we stayed in were ideallic. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper as the roosters and snoring of fellow guests may wake you up :D I would definitely recommend this trek! Thank you JoJo!!!

This 2-day trek was a highlight of our trip, and we couldn’t recommend Piroon Trekking enough. From start to finish, the organisation was flawless, and we felt well cared for throughout. The itinerary was well planned, offering a good mix of activities.
We were incredibly fortunate to have Mr. Ouh as our guide (apologies we don't know how to spell it!) —he truly made the trek unforgettable. His infectious energy and sense of humour kept us laughing the entire way, and his sharp eye revealed fascinating details we never would have noticed on our own. Kind, charismatic, and endlessly entertaining, he brought our journey to life in the best possible way.
The route itself was stunning and more varied than we expected. There are a few steep sections, and they’re manageable for those used to walking (and worth it for the incredible views). The village we stayed at was as authentic as it gets. Mr.Ouh cooked the most delicious meals for us (and plenty of it!), as well as knocking down some fresh fruit off trees for us to have on the way.
Thank you to all those who made this experience so memorable for us (and especially Mr.Ouh)!

Our family of 4 had a fantastic experience on our 3 day trip. Deano was a fantastic guide, full of information, laughs, songs, guitar playing, and most importantly he was tuned in to our group and made slight adjustments and checking where necessary to ensure we all had as good a time as possible. The tour was three days full of things to do and see. The trekking itself was a pretty easy level but took in some diverse terrain from farm lands, to river sides to dense jungle. Whilst not being overly difficult, by the end of each day you knew you had walked a few km’s. The accommodations in the mountain villages were simple but clean and comfortable with a few small ‘trekking-luxuries’ like toilets and showers at each stop and an esky with cold drinks and beers each night and lunch. Overall both us adults and our two teenage daughters had a great time and we would definitely recommend using these guys.

Hi, is it possible to book a trekking tour as a solo traveller? To join with a group of other people? Thanks
Written 10 September 2022
As Justin and rene have already correctly mentioned: you can book a tour as a solo traveller without hesitation.
If there is a group tour starting the same day that you would like to start your tour, you will be experiencing the lush nature of Northern Thailand with this group and depending on the groups size the price of your tour will be adjusted accordingly.
You will find all information about price scaling for group tours as well as all other important information around a trekking tour with Chiangmai Trekking on our official website - you can find the link to our website at our TripAdvisor listing.
If you have any further questions not being answered on the website, please feel free to contact us at any time by email or through WhatsApp.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Regarding Pekino and his answer: you can read more about this person and the lack of information that has been leading to such impertinent answering of your question in the user reviews of our page - check for August 21st 2022 to learn more.

Hello my dears!
Are you okay in these difficult times? Are you at least somewhat busy without the many foreign tourists?
How do you deal with your many employees? Do you currently have other jobs or income?
I wish you very much that you get through the difficult times well and that we will all meet again next year at the latest, healthy and happy!
With best regards to everyone from Andi from Berlin

Dear Andi,
we are doing fine so far.
Our staff members are currently back home in their villages and stay with their families, do some farming and raising animals. The members living in the city are selling street food to make a living.
Our office is currently mostly closed as the tourism in Thailand is basically on the ground at this time.
From time to time we are happy to welcome Thai tourists from Bangkok or elsewhere in Thailand who are looking for a few days off from work and travel to Chiang Mai to do trekking with us - we then try to contact our staff in the villages to have them as guides for these tours. If we can not get a hold of them in time, then Piroon will guide the tours instead.
We are sending you the best wishes and lots of greetings to Berlin and we hope to welcome you back here in Chiang Mai once foreign tourists are allowed back into Thailand again.
Until then, please take cood care.

Bonjour,
Lors de ce trek traversez vous des villages et ces villages sont_ils vraiment là pour les touristes?
Merci pour votre réponse
Written 9 January 2020
Dear Dominique,
sorry for the late reply.
Here is a snippet from our official websites FAQ:
***

Written 10 December 2019
Dear Rosalie,
thank you for contacting us - the answer to your question is: most definitely yes.
We have had many, many guests with children of all age (even small babies) and your children will surely have a great time exploring the jungles with us and we will assure that the trekking route is suitable for them.
As TripAdvisor does not allow us to set links to TripAdvisor reviews here:
You can find many reviews of families with children with our TripAdvisor entry: click "Reviews" (or "Avis") and use the search tool "show reviwes that mention" (or "Afficher les avis qui parlent de") to narrow down the results.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to also check out our official website - also available in french - with a large FAQ part and a lot more information about our tours.
Find the link to our official website with our TripAdvisor entry (click "More" / "Plus" under our profile picture to get the link) or search in Google for "chiangmai trekking" - our official website will most likely be one of the first hits.

How much time do we get to spend with the elephants? Is this part of the experience similar to what we would get at a elephant sanctuary? We're trying to decide if we should do both or if we will see enough elephants with the trekking alone
Written 31 October 2019
Dear Dallas,
thank you for contacting us.
The time spent with the elephants is approx. 1.5 - 2 hours (depending on the duration of your trekking tour).
You will have the chance to feed the elephants and if they are willing to take a bath you can also dabble in the water with them - a truly unforgettable experience. Since we do not want the mahouts to force the elephants into the water, it depends on the elephants decision wether or not you will have the chance to dabble with them.
If you want to get in close touch with a pachyderm and enjoy some truly unforgettable moments with them - you will get all that on a trekking tour with us.
***
If you want to spend much more time with the elephants, we suggest to book a daytrip with the best elephant sanctuary that you will find in all of Thailand: Elephant Nature Park (ENP).
We would suggest the "Elephant Highlands Tour" - this takes place outside of the ENP itself (you will not visit ENP park itself). This tour usually is limited to 8 participants as far as we know. I have done this tour myself and it really is a very good tour and well worth the cost.of 3600 THB per person.
You will drive from CNX to the Mae Rim region deep into the jungles and will meet 3 elephants at the drop-off where you will be introduced to them and can feed them pumpkins and the like and get a first feeling of being so close to such a majestic animal.
Later on you will get a shoulder bag with more yummy elephant food and you and the elephants will walk approx. 2 km (mostly even path, not very challenging, even unfit people can do this) to a small camp where you will have lunch.
In the afternoon there is more fun time with the pachyderms around the small camp, you will prepare rice balls for the animals and can feed them the balls directly into their mouth - fascinating experience.
As for all tours that ENP offers: book as soon as possible as the tours are often totally booked 1-3 months before - especially during the high season.
We hope this helps you (and others) in deciding what to put on the agenda when visiting The Rose Of The North.
With the best regards from Chiang Mai
