Next Step Thailand, previously known as Travel with Joe, was founded by...

Next Step Thailand, previously known as Travel with Joe, was founded by Samart (Joe), a native of Chiang Mai who has 10 years experience in Thailand's tourism industry. With licensed, English-speaking local staff we provide a wide range of adventure and cultural enrichment to meet your travel needs. Each one of our staff holds special knowledge or skills in areas such as Thai cooking, ethnic hilltribe customs, Buddhist beliefs and more. We can customize your tour package to include exposure to any of our unique experiences.

At Next Step Thailand, all activities and tours support the local communities by visiting only locally owned businesses (such as elephant villages or hilltribes), ensuring that your investment benefits the local people. We also donate 15% of all profits to support community projects, such as Share the Dream Project, which brings educational programs to hilltribe villages.

Next Step Thailand supports the three strands of sustainability - social, economic and environmental. By supporting fair-trade practices in the community and paying our staff fairly, we have built a friendly, reliable and knowledgeable team who will go the extra mile to make your visit special. We also aim to be as environmentally responsible as possible and do everything in our power to ensure our operations do not have a detrimental impact on the environment.

I booked a 2 day trek alongside another solo traveller. The arrangements were co-ordinated for us in advance to check both parties were happy with pairing up. Bang on time, I was picked up from my hotel by the witty, knowledgable and likeable Boon. Having collected my co-traveller we then stopped for our assistant tour guide, Boon. Yes, that's right... We agree this was the best experience in Thailand for us. Our guide Dari was knowledgable and so considerate and accommodating of our needs as a family. All activities were well organised and professionally executed with someone always on hand to answer questions and help however they could. All staff were so friendly and kind, communal meals with fellow guests... More

Our guide MADE our experience at Spicy Villa. He was super attentive, funny and great with the kids. Perhaps best of all, it didn't feel like he was guiding. He gave 110% all the time, and it never felt like he was mailing it in. Thank you Boon. We'll miss you.

With just a short lead time, we were connected with awesome guides -- Ping and Boon -- who led us in several amazing adventures over two days, including trekking, biking, meeting elephants, and an incredible cooking class. These guides are top notch and FUN! Highly recommend.

We arranged a one day private tour very easily on line. Communication was very good and all of my questions answered quickly. For the tour we were picked up in a 4 wheel drive which was needed where we went. Our guide Daro was very helpful and spoke English very well. We had lots of questions about the Karen village,... I went on the 2 day trek of inthanon as a last second change of plans while I was traveling in Thailand. I have to say Sam and his crew gave me an experience I will never forget. I will let my pictures speak for themselves. Thank you for the amazing journey.

I had a one day window to do something interesting near Chiang Mai. Samart put together an ideal itinerary of cycling in the Mae Wang valley in the morning (seeing farmlands, markets and local housing) and trekking in the afternoon. . We trekked down to the valley from a mountaintop, starting at a beautiful temple with spectacular views of the... More

I found Spicy Villa and NextStep Thailand by pure chance. My trip included a visit to Karen tribe and a few more outdoor activities in the area. My guide Boon... More

I probably spent 10 hours researching companies and trying to decide which one to go with for my jungle trek in Thailand. I finally chose Next Step Thailand, and am SO glad that I did. The actual experience was so much better than can really be conveyed online. My girlfriend and I were accompanied by 2 guides throughout the trek.... More

We booked this through With Locals and were a little disappointed to see that it was a big company rather than a local thing but still enjoyed it. Except for the biking, my twin 6 year olds were able to do everything - they didn't have bikes small enough for the kids and we did some road biking which would... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a great review! I'm happy to read that you enjoyed the time with your guide and hiking in the countryside. On the other hand, it saddens me to read about the treatment of elephants while you were at the local camp. It's very important to me and everyone else in our... More
