Lovely gardens on top of Doi Suthep. It's further than the temple, with more windy roads up the mountain. This is the only place I've found so far in northern Thailand where everyone needs to wear long trousers. They have some for sale or rent (40 baht plus 100 baht deposit) available, but it's best to go prepared.

There are more grand palaces out there, but the setting and grounds of this one are very nice and worth a visit before or after Doi Suthep. It's 4km further along the road from Doi Suthep which is a lovely rainforest drive/ride. 50 baht entry includes a decent map. Gardens are well maintained. There is a strong but not overbearing... Spent around an hour walking around the grounds and gardens of this palace. The gardens were so beautiful and made a lovely change from the other Thai palaces seen. The entrance fee was reasonable. The palace sits high up a mountain which meant it was cooler which was a welcome relief. Would recommend a visit if you like flowers.

The expansive gardens here are eye candy for anyone interesting in flowers and/or agriculture. A delightful place to wander around, particularly mid-week in the off-season.

There are many gardens here at Bhubing, the summer palace. If you don't like walking, take one of the golf carts. The late, well respected, and much loved King of Thailand was a saxophonist and composer (as well as an engineer and inventor.) There is a wonderful musical fountain featuring his music.

Bhuping Palace is enroute to Doi Suthep, so, easy to visit both on the same day, should you desire.. It's a lovely long walk around the grounds, best done early morning before it gets too hot. A written guide is provided. If you enjoy well-manicured, blossoming gardens, this is worth a visit. The Queen has a penchant for roses, they're... More
