The lake is very quiet, so it offers a nice respite from the buzz in Chiang Mai. You can either cycle or walk around the lake and then enjoy seafood and drinks in one of the many small restaurants along the shoreline. Another bonus is...More

We enjoy going to HTT lake for hikes. There is a loop you can hike that takes you by a beautiful waterfall and up the mountain further for a beautiful overview of the park and beyond. It is great for picnicking by the lake in...More

A big lake surrounded by little bamboo shacks, served by a variety of restaurants. Park your car/motorbike, pick out a bamboo shack and make yourself at home. There are no chairs and tables, so you just sit on the bamboo mat around a low table....More

Cheap beer, relaxing vibe. We went for a few hours to drink and play cards, highly recommend it for something similar.

Around the lake there are lots of huts on the shore and although there are many kiosks selling snacks and soft drinks, I recommend tourists bring their own picnic. Well patronised by locals on the weekend who go there to eat, swim, fish and ride...More

Yes, there is camping at this lake and hiking trails too. We went on a weekday so it wasn't crowded. From what our Thai driver said, he goes here on Sundays with his family and it's very, very crowded. I presume it will be... More
Does anyone know if it's possible to bring my water submersible metal detector to look for dropped jewelry where people swim? I'll have it with me in Thailand because I'm spending a few days at one of the islands doing that.

Hi, be aware that due to Bouddhist spirit, you are not owner of nature and I would not recommend to expose yourself in digging ground to collect items your metal detector may have noticed. Olivier
