Our guide Wii was engaging from the first hello, greeting us as our taxi pulled up, making sure each aspect of our bikes was just right. One delightful experience after another, and wonderful stories of the culture, how this is reflected in the daily lives of Thai families. We loved spending the day with Wii!

Wow..., it's the unique way to explore "Amazing unseen by biking" along the ricefield, sight-
seeing tour pass by small villages and homemade factories (ceramic, handicrafts, cake &
bonbon factory etc.) and of course visiting a lot of "Wats" ( buddhist, and chinese Tempels).
The local market and the test of Thai sausages were delicious (free of charge). Our tour
guide, Mr Fokker (Netherland), he knew a lot about Thai cultures, his knowledge inspired
us, extreme fun and educational for all Thais and foreigners (Farangs).
We gave 5 stars for this tour, it's worth for your money. Our tour guide, he is so funny
and so "take it easy" and relaxing, take so much time, 6 hours long, we thank you :-D

I have just got back from my morning bike ride around Chiang Mai with RBB- Chiang Mai Biking and I have to say it was one of the best day trips that i've ever done. I was collected from my hotel by the owner, Fokke, right on time and when we got started there was a group of three (all of whom were from Perth, W.A. as it turns out) and our tour guide, Aon. The ride was fairly gentle, no hills or valleys, but there was plenty to see and take in. Among some of the many places we visited were: ancient ruins, a thai bakery ( very nice thai doughnuts there - yumm), an orphanage, a former leper colony, a crematorium, a thai sweet factory (we sampled some of the traditional thai sweets and ended up buying 20 bahts worth) and a thai food market ( we tried another thai sweet and also a chiang mai sausage which was very tasty).
The tour guide, Aon, was a great guy and very helpful and informative and the ride was a great way to see a side of thailand you might not normally get to see if you just travel around in a taxi or tour bus.

I would highly recommend that if you are in Chiang Mai on holiday that you take this trip, you won't regret it, if you are worried about cycling for 3-4 hours don't be, because you get off the bike at fairly regular intervals and they supply you with water to stay cool. Also, the cycles supplied are good quality equipment and helmets are supplied if you prefer to wear one.

As the title says, and a lot of the other reviews, this biking tour (I did the 1 day tour) is a great way to discover the surrounding area and less touristic known spots around Chiang Mai. Some beautiful temples/ruins you probably wouldn't see otherwise. Also the many visits to small local companies/market and ofcourse the wonderfull countryside with all the small villages makes it a great way to spend your day. The equipment is perfect and once your out Chiang Mai there's almost no traffic, so while biking you can focus on the scenery and explanation of the tour guide.

Fokke thanks alot for a perfect day!

We did the half day tour which was a wonderful way to see the peaceful side of Thailand after all the tourist hotspots. Cycling past rice paddies and vegetable farms and stopping in at some fascinating places along the way was a great way to spend the morning. We'd been to a few markets, but going with Aon who showed us many different cooked foods and let us taste them was a highlight. We'd seen so much fresh produce that we don't get at home, and again Aon enlightened us on how it was all used in cooking. The bikes were vey comfortable and the route was really as flat as we'd been told. If we'd known how good the tour would be, we would probably have booked a full day.

We arrived Chiang Mai under a downpour with two children aged 9 and 11 catching colds, sniffling and feverish. A call to owner Fokke was immediate relief: "yes, of course we can postpone a couple days, and I hope the kids are better!" What a relief. Fokke was accommodating not once but twice when we again called with needs to reschedule. We are typically much better organized but these were unexpected issues. No problems! Fokke was great.

The bike ride itself, with guide Sun, was fantastic. We chose the 50km "Colours of Chiang Mai" ride through the south of Chiang Mai, even with the not 100% better children in tow, there was no complaints, only enjoyment! The numerous stops were interesting, the food was great at the roadside restaurant, the bamboo rice, candies and market were fascinating, the countryside beautiful, the roads and trail very pleasurable, all flat, the pace wonderful, the bikes comfortable and in great shape. We learned about the local arts and crafts, favorite foods (try the Chiang Mai sausage!), visited the old leper colony, even had some time for a little shopping! Great off the beaten path way to see Chiang Mai.

Highly recommended!

Surprised by all the positive reviews here. I've done other bicycle tours in Bangkok and Bali and this one was definitely the worst.

You begin the trip by cycling directly onto a highway. Not very safe, especially if you haven't biked in a while.

You visit a Chinese temple. Which is fine, but most people don't visit Thailand to see China.

For some reason you visit a leper colony. You see some abandoned buildings and a few people in wheelchairs. It's not very interesting or picturesque.

You also visit a candy factory. The workers are illegal Burmese and are paid very low wages. The factory certainly isn't like Willy Wonka. It's an industrial building with a few metal mixing bowls.

The visit to the school is the highlight. You go into the classroom and interact with the students.

All in all, it was very disappointing. You mostly bike along roads with lots of traffic and nothing much to look at. The places you stop at aren't very interesting except for the school.

I think there are better ways to spend your time in Chiang Mai.

My wife and I did the Colors of Chiang Mai 1/2 day tour. I liked the fact that it's mostly flat and therefore an easy bike ride. The biking equipment was of good quality (comfortable, with bike rack & bungy cord, helmet available, ...). Also I liked the variety of things that we saw in the tour.
As for what I didn't like: in my opinion, our guide named San didn't quite succeed in making us interested when showing things / giving information. Proof of this is that pretty much 1/2 of us didn't even bother listening to him. I believe this is partly because his English wasn't the best (although decent). Out of the 6-7 things he showed, we were really interested in what he said only about the crematorium.
Another thing I didn't like: I believe this tour is overpriced. 1000 baht per person, and it was 7 of us, means they got 7000baht in 1/2 afternoon. In this, probably 500Baht go to the Thai guide, 700B in food and drinking water, let's say 1000 Baht for bikes maintenance an another 2000Baht in various taxed or what not. If I am correct, then it means 3000 baht benefice for the owners! Anyhow couldn't find a cheaper bike tour, so maybe I am wrong... But compared to the price of some other tours which have many more things included (pick-up at hotel, ..., e.g. the King of flight tour), I believe that Chiang Mai biking is over priced.

We took the Chiang Mai Paradise Tour.
Our guide Sun was very friendly and nice.
We discovered so many interesting things with him in the Chiang Mai countryside.
One of the most enjoyable activities we've done in Thailand. At the end of the day, we were quite tired but it worth it!
They also have an office in BKK, should try their biking tour there too.

I just returned from the half day trip and have nothing but positive things to say about the experience. The owners met me in their comfortable office and were very hospitable while we waited for the rest of the group. Our guide, Aon, was knowledgeable, considerate and had a wonderful sense of humor. We saw a Chinese Temple, old leper colony and hospital, rice paddies, a bakery, a pottery place, an elementary school, an orphanage, ancient ruins and a wonderful local market..... all in about 5 hours. The ride through local streets gave me a glimpse of the real way that people live and work in Chiang Mai. Don't worry about being fit enough to try this. I am in my 60's and have not even been on a bike in 10 years and I did not find the trip to be overly strenuous. I highly recommend this trip as a special way to see the local Chiang Mai.
