Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Thai market for locals and tourists, with exit to the Chao Phraya river pier. Pier 1 boarding the Chao Phraya express, Pier 2 ferry crossing. In front of Wat Phra Kaew, amulet market and heart of the ancient city. Good Thai food and interesting items. It opens very early in the morning, at 6pm it is already closed, like all Thai day markets.

The food is very delicious. Everyone is very nice and friendly. The price is cute and the food is clean. Seller often gives discounts. There is a wide variety of food for us to choose and taste as we want and it is a tourist attraction that everyone must try to see.

It was wonderful to visit the Wang Lang market once again after the pandemic. Thai hospitality is always there. Shop keepers welcomed their visitors the Thai way, mai pen rai :). Hope

I love this market for shopping, coffee.
But dont buy shoes at 100bats near the pier.
I wore the shoes and they tore apart in an hour walking.
It was shame of me walking bare foot in the end in my country.

You can find almost everything at Wang Lung Market. Street food, dessert, clothes, secondhand clothes and shoes, bag and accessories. Even I saw lots of foreigners, but this market is for local and resident. Because it's so close to tourist attraction, I believe people can communicate in English. I personally, enjoy so much shopping here!

Having read other reviews and looking for a challenge on a Sunday, I decided it was time to find and visit the Wang Lang Market. Rather than taking the easy way of a taxi, we travelled by BTS (Skytrain) to the ferry terminal at Saphan Taksin(leave the train and just look for the Ferry signs). It is just a short and covered walk to the terminal.
To get to the Wang Lang market you need the Orange Line, buy a ticket THB.14 per person per person per way, and make sure that you keep your ticket!. Boats travel approx. every 20 mins during the day and more often during busy times. When the boat arrives everyone is rather ‘herded’ forward as there are a lot of people getting on and off and there is no time for niceties, just get on! If you are luck to get a seat, try to be on the right of the boat for the better views.
The Chao Phraya Express boats are a great part of the Bangkok scene, fast, noisy and furious. Great atmosphere!
It’s quite a journey from Saphan Thaksin to Wang Lang with stops on both sides of the river. The Wang Lang stop is easy to see with clear signage. As you leave the boat there are a number of small coffee shops on the water. Little space to sit but great coffee made in the typical Bangkok street coffee style (iced)
The Wang Lang Market starts immediately behind the ferry terminal. It is best to just delve in but head more to your left that to the road on the right. Having read a previous bloggers report one of our first challenges was to find Moo Tod chaowwang. We first found their street stall and later the shop! Mood Tod chaowwang consists of strips of succulent pork fried in a unique teriyaki sauce with flavours similar to saté with a hint of peanuts. Next to it we also found Tod Mun Pla, Thai fish cakes made with fresh fish paste, long beans, read curry paste and kaffir lime leaves. Served (in a plastic bag) with sweet chilli sauce and crispy cucumbers.
Whilst we were towards the road we did discover a new feature, there is now a small food court with a variety of Thai specialities downstairs including small pies filled with Kui Chuy and Southern rice based salad of many fresh vegetables called Khao Yum, more food stands upstairs and an air conditioned room to sit! Whilst not the real food market atmosphere it was a treat to enjoy our bags of food with a freshly prepared Raad Na seafood and pork soup.
Duly fortified we headed out into the depths of the market. Wang Lang is primarily a locals market with mothers buying school uniforms and other necessities of every day life. However look between the stalls are there are many unique foodie treasures to be found including Guay jub yuan an Isaan inspired Vietnamese soup at Kuon Dang Guan Jub Yan and the delicious braised chicken noodles at Kuy Teav Tun Khun Uum.
Another highlight of our afternoon was finding the world famous Wang Lang Bakery with their delicious variety of stuffed breads, most unusual for Thailand.
The highlight of our adventure was finding the elusive Wang Lang Éclair. Having seen these in a blog we walked and walked to find them. We saw people carrying these eclairs and knew that we were getting closer! The ‘Éclair shop’ is really just a table in front of a small restaurant, but the ladies are enthusiastically filling their mini Éclairs with a variety of flavoured creams. Their enthusiasm was infectious and they were most interested to hear that their éclairs were becoming famous!
So if you want an interesting excursion, off the well beaten track, go and hunt for the Wang Lang Éclairs at Wang Lang market!

I was on the chaophraya River express and it seemed a lot of locals were getting on and off the pier so I decided to get off myself one day and have a look. I wish I had discovered it earlier! It was Sunday and the food markets are amazing! Everything is so much cheaper here on this side of the river! Lots of little restaurants down alleyways.. I had the most amazing chicken and Rice and banana pancakes. I came early around 800 and had the whole place to myself but it soon was packed with locals. I loved this market and it will be first place I come to next time!

Mostly clothes and food with addition of other - it's a big mess, a wonderful place to get lost for hours. I really enjoyed walking around in circles, I even consider going back if I have some time left...

This market is located on the other side of the river to the Maharaj ferry terminal at the Maharaj shopping complex. You catch the river ferry which are the rectangle ferry's with no sides. The ferry cost is 15 cents.
The market kicks off around 8.00am and goes till after dark. This market is both wet and dry and locals buy there breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Clothing, shoes, fruit, vegetables, you name it its here.Everything a Bangkok local would want including banks.
Very small laneways with 100's of shops, also 7/11 minimart in the middle of it selling beers. 3 longnecks for $7.50. No wine sales. Plenty of coffee too, $2.00 cappuccino with real cows milk not condensed. Busy on weekends with Asian tourists.
While you are there and if you have a strong stomach, visit the Anatomical Museum in the Sirriraj Hospital across the road from the market.
I wont go into what you will see, but lets say you might want to visit on an empty stomach. Incredible and educational.

Went to Bangkok this weekend and decided to go to Wang Lang market as it is well known for various kind of food for you to try. Arrived at the market too early therefore a lot of shops aren’t open yet but we decided to explore the place. Love the atmosphere, old fashioned buildings, some of the businesses has been existing for over 40 years. Don’t missed this place!

does anyone know how to get to wat rakhang temple from wang lang market? i would like to.visit both places. thanks

Wat Rakhang temple is located in the south of Wang lang market near the river.
My best way is to start from Baan Wanglang Riverside (it's a biggest riverside hotel and bar of that area), the front of this hotel is facing the river, but the other side is located on a small alley in the Wanglang market.
This alley is where you can have just about 5 minute-walk along the way to the south (you're going to walk past the Patravadi Theatre) and then reach Wat Rakhang :)
