Central Embassy was diagonal to the Okura Hotel where we based ourselves and the mall sat beneath the Hyatt chain of hotels. It’s new and has a variety of low to high end fashion, think Uniqlo to Missoni. What we especially liked about the centre was the food court on level 6, it’s nothing like you have experienced before. Open House is an eclectic mix of cafes and international restaurants, set amongst a predominantly library style book shop with a similar feel to a gift shop at somewhere like Tate Modern. You could grab a book and read it whilst drinking coffee and eating cake or peruse the curated designer housewares and art supplies. There is definitely one thing the shopping malls get right in Bangkok and that’s the balance of a destination mall will a broad and accessible (price point) food hall.

On a couple of occasions we walked through H&M, Prada, Uniqlo, Massimo Dutti, Paul Smith and Missoni to name a few. (Window shopping I might add)

The highlight being the interior design and architecture of the mall and specifically Open House.

A very eye catching high rise shopping mall having most popular brands of the world. The street food version has foods cooked to order at about 160 - 260 Baht each. They gave a card having 1,000 Baht credit. When I order, I give the card to the cook and pay when checking out. Restroom is very good and luxury with heated toilet and bidet.

Central Embassy was on our food list due to Eathai, the upmarket food court. Other than that, it didn’t mean anything to me. It was just another fancy lifestyle mall with a futuristic design. When viewed from the top, it has an infinity symbol.

Logistically, Central Embassy connects to 2 BTS Stations, Chit Lom & Ploenchit via walkways. It also connects to Central Department Store via a 2nd floor skybridge.

My friends & I visited Eathai for lunch. Unfortunately, we had a negative experience as our preferred food stall had stopped operating & moved to another unknown location. We made do with whatever was accessible to our faith & tastebuds. Afterall, the food court on the basement level offers dishes from all over Thailand inclusive of seafood & street food dishes.

My soulmate & I had always liked the restrooms as they were equipped with Japanese working closets. We spent some time enjoying the luxury in the restrooms before venturing off to boutiques such as Prada.

The Prada boutique was huge & the salesgirl who attended to me was polite & accommodating. She helped me by calculating the conversion rate for a particular handbag of my choice. Unfortunately, it was out of my budget & thus, I couldn’t purchase it & left feeling disappointed. There were other boutiques which I wanted to visit but we didn’t have much time as we were supposed to meet my cousin-in-law who will be bringing us to Jim Thompson Factory Outlet.

Needless to say, Central Embassy has a charm of its own. We did not have the opportunity to explore it fully but as for me, it will be remembered as the mall that is equipped with Japanese water closets.

This is, in theory, an “upscale” mall with all the requisite retailers, e.g., Piaget, Gucci, et al.

Despite the rent that the retailers must be paying in this 5-story mall, there is essentially no Wi-Fi. Yes, you are offered the opportunity to share your details (including your telephone, email and passport number. Then you are signed in, but no access is provided and then within 3 minutes, the notice shows that there is “no internet connection”.
I went to the Information Desk to inquire and was told that “it’s free so sometimes it’s very, very slow.
I hate to inform Central Embassy that they are not offering “free” Wi-Fi since it doesn’t work.
I’ve been to this mall several times and it’s not worth the aggravation.
Just remember, if you’re there, you will not have access to Google.

This mall has delivered: very pleasant surroundings, a nice selection of shops and a well planned book store at the top floor, called the Open House.

To add, the basement food court served local Thai meals that were reasonably priced. It was also a place to get souvenirs.

I am specifically adding a review ONLY for Hermes at this location.

I have visited to browse the store over 2 and a half years, having shopped at Hermes worldwide for over 15 years. This is by far the worse store I have ever visited. The attitude of the staff is very negative and discouraging, this applies to 4 staff over many visits which I have given them chances. They do not welcome you, much less go out of their way to help. In fact I always get the feeling they want everyone out of the store as soon as possible. I do not ask pointless questions and never enquire about bags, I am only interested in Ready to Wear, shoes and homeware. If it’s not available they never offer to help to find it in another local store. Overall it’s a deplorable experience, unworthy of the Thai people and of the brand. I have never encountered such rudeness from any of the local people over my years living here, and I have only good things to say about the locals in general. It is unbelievable but I have also read very similar reviews elsewhere. I hope others will have much better experiences to share. Overall the mall, the other shops and restaurants is a very good place to visit and I love going there.

We were staying at the Conrad, and happened to walk into Central Embassy via the overhead connections. The mall was relatively new, modern and clean. It had top end brands available on various floors. Yes the place was beautiful but did not leave an impression of revisit. Many on the 6th floor but offerings were a bit expensive. One could go to the food court on the basement level. Many delicious foods were available at your pick.

The Central Embassy is beautiful. The shops are high-end. There is a bank there. The restaurants are well decorated. We had lunch at a seafood restaurant for mini reunion on the 5th floor at the mall. The AIS shop is nice. The book store and the coffee shops on the 6th floor were beautiful. The prices are high.

This shopping mall was very relaxing. Great choice of shops from more affordable to high end fashion brands and a wide range of food choices. I had a fantastic dinner at Honmono Sushi on the 5th floor. I had there the best sashimi I ever had. Incredible quality. Apparently there are some other Hommono Sushi restaurants at other locations with mixed reviews. But this one was absolutely top notch. I highly recommend their sashimi! As there were some senior Japanese business men this was a sign that it must be good :)

I went there for lunch with my kids. It was crowded with local businessmen. The interior is clean and the menu is extensive, but the prices are accordingly high. It's like Midtown or Hills in Japan. The clientele is all fashionable and wealthy. There are many spicy dishes, but the crepes were delicious for small children.
