Neighbourhood: Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

We were completely “managed” by hostesses the minute we emerged from the elevator. We were first ushered into a very pink room and pressured to buy a bottle of champagne. When we insisted we were there only for cocktails, we were ushered into another outside bar that was decrepit. The cocktails were horrible and cost $30 USD each.

This is a venue now famous for the movie Hangover 2, which management are taking full advantage of. The views are fantastic of Bangkok at night, especially down the river. But beware that to see the best views you will have to either have drink at the bar or have dinner. If not you are restricted to an area that does not provide the better views for taking the best photo opportunity.
The prices for drinks vary from 5000 baht +($200 AUD) for a glass of champagne, or 780 baht ($32 AUD) for a glass of wine. It cost two of us $80 AUD for two drinks. I much prefer the Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Hotel, the views are better with 360 degree shots available as you are right on top of the hotel, no dome to obstruct the views and the drink prices are reasonable.

The price. Oh my over the top.
Taking advantage of being featured in hangover 2. Great view but the service and price really ruined the experience

Unfortunately a very poor experience for us this time !!
We had a great memory and we were looking forward to be back at this amazing panoramic sky bar, but :
You need to make sure where you going to be ; they put us first on the 54th floor and we said that we want to go to the sky bar at the Dome , moved to and other , and after to a champagne only place , bottle around 11000 bth, well....
At the end, after moving 3 times from floor to floor , up and down, we arrive to the top one , very inspiring , in theory there is a dress code etc ..., well that evening we got and a big group of bubble girls in a “hen party “ ..... very drunk and rude girls
To be honest , there are better plan and less pretentious places with fair price places now in BKk without been up and down and been very assertive to get to the place were you want to be !!!

Location wise, State Tower is the place to beat. It's easily accessible to different places and cheap food stops. The Tower itself is not as neat but it came with a very reasonable price.

Ok so first things first, when you go up at 5:30 as it opens you'll initially get taken to a side bar as the sun goes down with some views over the city and soft seating, here is a chance to order some delicious cocktails which are all served in novelty fashion e.g. Mine had dry ice and was most impressive. We realised that this first spot was not the famous view that you see in the movies. They told us that is actually the champagne bar which opened at 7:30 I think...
So we decided to wait and move through when that opened. Wow it is beautiful. We were greeted by a smiling waitress who immediately ushered us to the champagne menu, my partner and I don't particularly like champagne, when we asked if there were any other drinks that we could order instead they gave us a straight answer of 'no there are no other drinks you can order'
Feeling pressured and wanting to stay to enjoy the view, we felt we had to order the drinks or leave. So we ended up ordering two glasses of the cheapest champagne - this came to nearly £100. How naive of us. I think we could of made our peace with it if the champagne tasted nice, but frankly it was hard to drink the whole glass.
We then see people walking around with beers and other drinks and realised the staff had more or less lied. There was another bar just down the steps that sold all the other drinks we actually wanted to drink and had asked for when we arrived. This left a sour taste as we felt both foolish and scammed. Of all the places I expected to get scammed in Bangkok - it was not at this establishment. So after being told there was 'no other drinks we could order' we had to drink our overpriced mediocre champagne and try to enjoy the beautiful views.
It is a shame our experience was ruined by some shady selling techniques as otherwise we would have reviewed this place more highly.

I have been coming here for years and ever since the movie Hangover was shot "the helicopter screen" the prices have steadily increased. But on this visit I must confess the cost of a beer "they now only have one to choose from" took my breath away.
I can afford most things but when I am being ripped off I do t enjoy the experience and not even the spectacular view is worth the experience.
The second point is the bar staff don't like you running a tab and shove the bill in your face just at the time you are starting to relax and that's when the 2nd sting hits.... the prices are ++ so add the 10% service Charge and then the 7% VAT onto what you just saw in the drinks list!
As I said I have been coming here for years but when the F&B manager is going to start coming to his/her senses (I can buy a bottle of "Tattinger NV" at Scarlet on the 37 floor of the Pullman, which also has great views for the same price as a glass of champagne at Sky bar), see the clientele nursing their drinks and come to finally reduce the drinks to a sensible level is not in my opinion going to be any time soon.
Sorry but being ripped off at this level is not for my and I can get just as good a view at many of the other high level open air bars that Bangkok has to offer.

We visited the Sky Bar at Lebua on our last evening in Bangkok. After waiting in a large group on the ground floor for the elevator, we shot up to the 63rd floor where we were greeted by half a dozen beautifully dressed Thai ladies. Leaving the elevator, we were ushered very quickly to the direction of the Sky Bar.
Walking out of the doors and onto the rooftop absolutely took our breath away - it truly is stunning to be so high above the glistening Bangkok, yet it be so calm, peaceful and surreal.
We didn't have much time to compose ourselves though as the staff continued to usher us down the stairs and into the bar area (reminded me of a shepherds with their sheep). The best views are from the top step as you leave the building but the staff refused to allow us to take a quick photograph from there as people were dinning in the open air restaurant (which happens to be right next to the bar so will inevitably be in people's photographs anyway!).
We ordered two Mojitos which cost about 1,400 THB (roughly 45 USD) which is rather steep; we agreed that we would consider the cost of the drinks to be inclusive of an entrance fee - when thought of like that, it wasn't so bad. The Mojitos were very good to be fair, although I don't know whether I think that because of the price! ;)
Take your time to soak in the views from every angle. Take as many photos as you can; the more you take, the more likely you will find a few that are good ones when you review them later. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing for the venue too i.e. no shorts and crew neck t shirts (which caused us a dilemma as we were going to Muay Thai afterwards - Lumpinee Stadium is hot in trousers and shirt!).
TIP: If you want to do a 'selfie' style shot with the Bangkok skyline as the backdrop, use the light on your smartphone to light up your faces, and take the actual photo on your camera or another smartphone without the flash on.
All in all, the Sky Bar should be a definite on your list of 'Things to do' in Bangkok, but we wouldn't bother going back. The fact that they are still selling out on it featured in 'The Hangover Part II' from over 3 years ago doesn't really suit the level of class Lebua seems to want to portray.

what a joke. Ok, great view. Have one drink at the outside bar with NO seats, slap down a credit card and be done with it. Longtable is better overall. don't even think about eating there! For example, four people, one bottle of wine, two courses each, 25,000 baht! and what was on the menu? farmed salmon which costs the restaurant about 50bhat a portion and SNOWFISH, an endangered species called by different names on the menu! Cod, Seabass... What a waste of money and I will never go there again!
Oh, the oyster bar sucks as they only import once a week fresh oysters. I asked.
Find another place to blow your money or give it away. You'll feel better the next day.

Came here a few years ago and had a lovely relaxed evening over a few reasonably priced drinks.
Oh, how things have changed. Drinks are obscenely priced (£50+ two G&Ts, one beer & a coke.....). Herded into a cramped area with no seats, snotty stressed out staff and tons of rules (no pictures here, can't bring that bag in etc).
Has always had a dress code, which is fair enough, but this used to be politely advised on the ground floor. Now people are publicly & rudely turned away on the 64th floor for minor infractions, meaning they must take a humiliating journey back down (saw this happen to a lovely old couple).
It's not really a serious bar anymore, the idea isn't to enjoy a relaxed drink in a great location, it is a tourist trap (viewing deck) with expensive drinks in place of admission charges.
Don't think you are missing out on a Bangkok landmark by not going, you really are not. It's now just a dispiriting, tacky experience. Save your hard earning pennies and treat yourself to a nice meal (and have change for a few night caps) elsewhere.
I think that the associations with the 'Hangover' film have gone to their heads and just like a real hangover it leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.

Hi ! I'm planning to go there …
I'm wondering if someone could share " Any booking is needed for table? " & " How about price ?". thanks
Written 12 August 2018
Always wise to reserve your table.. Higher price than many, but not unrealistic

What is the exact dresscode for the skybar?
Men: No sleeveless, no shorts, no open shoes.
Women: No flipflops, no beach sandals. But as a woman, am I allowed to wear a sleeveless short dress? But really no sandals allowed? So either high heels or... what? I'm confused!
Thank you.

Hi There. I am planning to visit here for evening during Feb.
Query:
Can you please tell me that do i need to book advance tickets for this place?
How much would be the cost of non alcoholic drinks?
What is the desired dress code?
Written 27 December 2016
Hi,
You don't need tickets nor reservation when going for a drink at the Skybar. If I remember correctly most drinks were around 15 euro (?). Dress code is casual smart, that is: no shorts, no sandals or flip flops. Just dress decent and you'll be okay.
For one of the restaurants it's better to make a reservation (a couple of weeks ahead should be okay). Reservations are made through their website with your credit card (just as confirmation so nothing will be charged). The tasting menu is about 200 euro per person, if you include pairing wines you have to add another 50 euro. You get 5 to 6 meals and 5 to 6 glasses of wine (more than enough;-). Same dress code as the bar.
More info at lebua . com.
Have fun!
