Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This place from the past should have been an empty square before.
And when there are activities, come to this place But this time I saw a lot like temple. Which in truth is a place that is made for Commemorating the King Rama IX, where Thai people come and take pictures I can only stand and watch the beautiful night lights and see the work of Rama IX. That is made to Thai people I am not surprised that Thai people will love you because you have done a lot for Thai people. I respect.

We had seen this park from outside during our holidays in Bangkok. This park is just a normal park but we can see the beautiful City Pillar shrine on one side and the Wat Phra or Emerald Buddha on another side from the park. Tourists are lined up outside this area for entrance into the Grand Palace complex.

Adjacent to The Grand Palace, these playing fields and public park, this was a place for Royal cremations in the past, it has been a Royal Park sine King Rama I.
It has since been used for everything from growing rice to major exhibitions.
When we visited there were widespread civil works underway, in preparations for the new king’s coronation.

From the Grand Palace I walked around where groups of tourists are lining up for security inspection. At first I was wondering where or which is Sanam Luang?
I asked one street vendor and with her index finger she was pointing to the green area of open fields..from there I realized that I'm facing the mowered grass as the place for the Royal activities.
I admired the orange buildings on one side and all the rest of the open space fit for the King and its community.

Sanam Luang used to be open from all sides and people would gather here especially in the evenings to socialize. At some point the authorities decided to put a fence around it and convert part of the field into a square. Perhaps for the purpose of crowd control more convenient, but I stll can not get used to it.
Historically this huge open field in front of the Grand Palace 30 acres in size was used as the royal cremation ground. King Bhumibol was cremated here last year. However the space is used for numerous events and celebrations. Yesterday when I visited it was Father's day (birthday of king Bhumibol who is still widely regarded as a father figure). There was an exhibition about his life and Sounds of Love could be heard all over. A pleasant happening.

Big open space area north of Royal Palace for special purpose celebration, royal or religious. In the meantime used as a car park for tour buses. Open for business until 6 pm (as convient shortcut for passers by).

On the way to the Grand Palace Complex, I walked past Sanam Luang.
After having been used last year as the site of the late Thai King’s cremation, the Sanam Luang was bare during my visit to Bangkok. The Royal Crematorium, Pavilions, and all the adornments that were constructed on the site had already been torn down.

Normally, it's just big plain area build for special event like royal family member's funeral. nothing to do much but it's surrounded by other attraction places. ie, Royal castle, emeral Buddha, musuem, Wat Pho and etc. if you go to those places you can walk around.
In some period, you can enjoy fair market.

Unfortunately, this large park across from the Grand Palace is closed - temporarily. It was used for the King’s cremation ceremony back in October 2017. A sprawling complex was specially constructed for this purpose and is now in the process of being torn down. As soon as the work is finished, the grounds will be restored to the sprawling public park it once was. According to several sources, the work should be completed on the next three months or so.
