The Golden Mount is a manmade hill somewhat over 250' high. Getting to the top requires a climb up some 300 steps that encircle the chedi like a loosely coiled snake. It was easy for me to see from the ground that I had no need to climb to the top!

Going around the base, there are many interesting things that are part of it.

I arrived about a half hour before sunset.

I now look at the photo I took of the stairway up, with the gleaming sun streaming through the hanging reeds and realize how beautiful and serene it is, and it is now one of my favorite photos.

I named the photo "Stairway to Heaven" because that is what it looks like to me, and it is so picturesque, it could be an oil painting.

The sunset view at the top was also nice and relaxing as well.

I was there in Feb 2019 (not 2021, TA doesn't let me choose my visit date) and at sunset it wasn't crowded, but it wasn't empty either.

One of the best maintained sites in Bangkok. The grouds are nice despite it being a former burial ground. Very peacuful and shady.
The cave is a nice place tp learn more about Thai history and the history of Wat Saket.

The day before our departure we said goodbye to the sun from the high end of the temple. Walk your way up to the best scenery you can get with sunset.

Take it easy and enjoy ♥️

If you been there in the early morning, you will not see many people and it's not busy. You have to walk more the 100 steps to get on the top. It was little tired. I always see Burmese people more than Thai every time that I go. The views are excellent from the top, you can see around Bangkok.

There are many steps leading up to the the Temple, but it is not a difficult climb if you take it easy. I am 67 and managed it with no trouble. The climb affords you the opportunity to enjoy the view across the city, and there are features to enjoy on the way up, such as the large gongs which you can strike if you wish.

I headed to the Golden Mount early to avoid queues and high temperatures in Bangkok. The views are excellent from the top - the climb is quite manageable with a certain level of fitness. The temple is also very beautiful. I would recommend visiting whilst in Bangkok.
