Top ways to experience Chatuchak Flower Market and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Chatuchak
Every weekend, thousands of tourists make their way up to this Northern Bangkok suburb to get lost in an enormous maze of shops at the Chatuchak Weekend Market. Home to almost 10,000 vendors, you’ll find everything from vintage sneakers to comic books and Thai handicrafts being sold here. You name it, Chatuchack probably sells it. The market is a great place to pick up souvenirs, but be sure to bargain for a good price. After a day of shopping and strolling around, the lush green lanes of Chatuchak Park are a welcome relief.

    lt's a good market.
It is a very large place for selling plants in the heart of the city. It is open during the daytime. There are many different kinds of trees and flowers for sale. Rare plants are also inexpensive. I really like it because there are only beautiful flowers there.

    Still had a good time.
I've never seen so many flowers! Even though it was raining when we went at night, we still had a great time. Huge and well worth a visit. I attempted to make one of the ornaments, but I gave up

This is a place that i always visit to get my stash of orchids, tillandsia (airplants) and other bromeliads!

There is really a lot to see and buy there! Even pots, fertilizers, and ornaments for terrariums!

You can get the vendors there to deliver the items to your hotels if you buy a lot of items from the same vendor! Also, most vendors will be more then happy to remove the soil and pots of the ️plants - as some countries do have strict regulations on bringing back soil!

During weekends Chatuchak is full of visitors and all the shops are open including some plant stalls.
If you like to see vast variety of horticulture products you have to go there on Wednesdays. They continue it on Thursday morning hours also.
If you are in KSR (Khao San Road) walk to Phra Athit road or to Samsen Road and take bus No. 3 (6.50 Baht) or 524 A/C (18 Baht). Both buses go to Mochit , get down at Chatutack Park bus stop and walk back few 100 meters to the weekend market.
You can take same bus to come back. If you are not alone or with goods better tack a taxi. I paid 80 Bhat from Chatuchak to KRS during low traffic hrs.

Visited here at 5.30 to 7.00pm. The most amazing sight. Acres of flowers - row after row of orchids, roses, marigolds and every type of greenery you could imagine. Totally mad place with people moving flowers in carts everywhere - and it's not its busiest till 2am in the morning. Was a bit daunted by the trip there as it didn't look easy- but worked out a way.

Easy Directions from Sukhumvit Road area- Get the sky train to Saphan - May have to change at Siam for Silom line. Saphan is right at Sathorn Pier. Catch a public Orange Flag ferry (you can pay on board 15 bht) to Memorial Bridge. The ticket seller on the ferry will let you know when you are there if you tell them where you want to get off. After leaving the wharf - keep left and the entrance to the flower markets are in front of you. Take the roads to your right - and you will see an amazing array of all things floral. Reverse the journey to get back. The Ferry service stops around 8 ish - if later than that you need to check. Was very easy really and well worth the journey. Highly recommended. Don't forget a camera.

Visited chatuchat flower market on Thursday. It was a hot day. If you intend to visit this place, please ensure you bring adequate water to quench your thirst and umbrella to hide under the scorching sun. It was a trip well worth the trip despite the unbearable hot weather. Bought a few reasonably prized plants here.

I went on a Thursday morning as there are some weekdays when Chatuchak market is a plant market. The stalls are generally around the inside perimeter of the market and it was quiet and peaceful but so much to look at. It took me an hour to walk around the perimeter. The prices are good and there was a good range of plants.

Need time and patience as it is very busy at this weekend market.
It is also very hot outside, some vendors would not bargain and didn’t care if you walked away.
You will not find brand name know off purses either.
Some vendors also cook there and have clothing kiosk next to it and I didn’t really want to buy smelly clothing.
I expected more from this market and was very disappointed.

Must visit weekend market. It really is a sight to behold, and it’s arguably the best place in the whole city to buy souvenirs. Coming to Chatuchak by Skytrain (BTS) you should get off at Mo Chit Station and exit the station by exit number 1. From here just follow the crowds to the market entrance.Saturday and Sunday – Main market days, everything available – 6:00am to 6:00pm. You can buy clothing, accessories, crockery, antiques and collectibles, handicrafts, art, ceramics, etc
