Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was listed as an easy option to get a free shuttle ferry to ASIATIQUE. Think ahead and if you get there and see a queue, just pay up or leave. Basically the staff kept reorganising the queues so that if people decided to pay they then get priority to board the ferry. This resulted in almost an hour or more of waiting thinking we were almost able to get on a ferry. It should not be advertised as a free ferry if staff can make everyone wait until people finally cave and pay the fee to board the ferry first. Staff were incompetent and simply unhelpful when we tried to ask them about the queuing system. They kept saying we were next...

This pier has boats to ajoing hotels, pleasure tours, Iconsiam, Asiatique as well as the BTS train station. Unfortunately it is also used by a well dresssed man in black who tell you he is the information officer for the pier, or he is the BTS station manager. This man preys on tourists asking wherebthey are going then tells them that location is closed today or will be shut for a short time. He then tries to direct you to a nearby Thai market "the best in Bangkok". Be careful of this person.

We came here to pick up a River Cruise Ferry. There's 3 or 4 to choose from, as well as a local ferry service. The touts for each company are eager to get your business, so be prepared to be harassed.
When we came here at the end of the day we had a walk around the local market area nearby.
Sathorn Pier is next to a BTS station so easy to get to.

Had our breakfast at Sarnies Cafe nearby. Only 5 min walk away from Saphan Taksin BTS.

If you’re taking BTS to Saphan Taksin, take exit 2 to Sathorn Pier. There is an official booth selling boat tickets. Upon waking to the booth, you may encounter some friendly local guiding you to the pier instead. Those are to the private long tail boat, which they’re trying to sell tourist.

The official booth is located on the left side if you exit the BTS, facing the river. The long tail boat is on the right.

There are many boat traveling towards Wat Arun with different stop. We chose the Tourist boat (blue line) for a hassle free ride. cost 30 baht.

Clean washroom is available right outside pier.

There’s not much to say other than this is a pier where different ferries come and go. Be alert for your fe
Err yes they are not announced and they pull in, load up, and ship out. The schedules are pretty on time and the waiting area is well lit and there are plenty of people about. Walk to the sky train from the pier.

Travel on the river is essential to traveling north given the gridlock on the roads. It was a good thing I researched this river access point ahead of time because once I got down there, trying to figure out what to do is very confusing. And of course several other boat companies have built whole industries around tourists not being able to get on the express boats. But if you go there, do what you can to find the express boat line and skip the hop-on-hop-off and tourist boats if you can. Of course you have to know exactly where you want to get off the boat before you board, so do your research and make yourself a note because these Thai pier names can be very confusing.

Previous warnings about The man in Black seemingly an official, but not, still true today when he tried to tell me the ferry to IconSiam wasn't running. Untrue, ignore him

I was expecting more restaurants and shops, but not much there except the boat tours. Not really a destination.

The river was the best way to access most of Bangkok’s historic shrines and temples. It takes us away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok’s traffic and allow a leisurely ride between the places of interests.

Sathorn Pier is the place that you can get transportation to all the attractions, I would recommend the blue flag ( hop and hop off boat for tourists) though the price here is a little more expensive than the orange or gold flag boats the frequency seems to be much higher and you would save time waiting in line. You can also hire your own boat from Sathorn. which can make a good experience
