If you don't mind waiting a bit longer in line, I would suggest wait for the the glass bottom. Both my kids really get the kick out of that. Once you are at the top, you could walk along the road and enjoy the tea shops, or eat some hawker foods. If you hiking is your thing, the there are... More

Take a scenic Gondola ride to the top of the mountain, have a rest and a cup of tea while enjoying the spectacular views of mountain scenery and far-view of city of Taipei. Would need a full-day to explore the mountain area and taste the local foods and experience the local culture etc.

Long ride on the Gondola... I think we were on it (one-way) for almost 30 minutes, but the view was spectacular. On the way back we got off and took the 'train' shuttle to the zoo, for something like $5 TWD. It was worth it. Quite a bit of things to do along the Gondola ride if you have time.... More

If you can manage, visit the gondola during the week (closed on Tuesdays). On the weekend, this place can get packed. That means that your gondola ride might be spoiled by having to share the car with a super noisy family...and possibly screaming kids.

The 'tea plantations' suck they are not real plantations and just a couple of local vendors selling food on a stick and week old hot dogs. Starbucks serve up better coffee - seriously a waste of time.

Take the cable and enjoy the view! We went there after going to the zoo. The view is terrific! There were many tea houses on the top of the mountain and you may relax! Sadly we bring the little kids and they didn't want to stay on the mountain, just want to get onto the cable as soon as possible!

Maokong mountain is accessible by car and gondola. We preferred the gondola since you could stop anywhere and the views along the way are terrific. You can stop at the zoo, at the Zhinan temple (aka Ziangong Temple) and the top of the mountain which has many tea houses. Taiwanese tea is special and there are grand master tea makers... More

This is great place to go just before sunset. The view from the here is amazing. You can see the many plants and the ride around different places on mountain is great way to enjoy natural beauty.

Maokong is a nice cool area in the mountaintop above Taipei. You can get to it by taking a bus from the Taipei Main Station, or via a gondola from the brown line at Taipei Zoo stop. Once up there you can experience everything team related because this is a tea growing region of Taiwan. The green teas and slightly... More

This is a great place to go right before sunset. Take the gondola up the mountain stop to see the Temple 1/2 way then continue. Great views and nice restaurants up on top pf the mountain. The cable car ride is far and takes like 10+ minutes.
