A good "different" thing to do for tourists, and good food and with lots of beer for locals.

Gone several times. Be warned, it can get boring sitting there with a fishing stick waiting for an hour to catch a few prawns. The bright overhead lights are no help either when... read more

If you come to Taiwan, you have to try shrimp fishing atleast once ! People do this with families and friends. Sit there with a fishing pole and catch large prawns (typically about 6-8 inches). After a few hours of shrimping, you salt them and put them on the BBQ !!! They are pretty good. My kids (5 and 7)... More

Excellent fun, we spent about 3 hours fishing and caught about 50 of these huge shrimps, each about 8" long. They give you a net, a rod and some bait. Watch how the locals do it and soon enough you will have your first shrimp. It is under cover, so no problem if it is raining. Shrimps tasted great, they... More

Since there are multiple locations/businesses, reports of "bad smells", "disgusting bathrooms", whatever need to be taken with a grain of salt because they will vary. The overall experience is very interesting. You catch your own shrimp, cook them and eat them. Most places will have additional food for purchase. It is a lot of fun to see a shrimp fly... More

So I was lucky enough to remember about shrimp fishing from when I was a young kid and I had a severe thirst to repeat the experience. Luckily, I was at a hostel and managed to recruit one other person to come with me to this shrimp fishery. It is a pricey (1 rod for 1 hour @ 350NT, 2hours... More

As many people have mentioned, this is one of the "different" things you can do while in Taipei, so long story short - imagine a pier (sort of), fishing lines and sitting around for a while (couple of hours easily) and hoping to catch some shrimp in the dirty smelly water. the highlight is the interaction with the locals and... Yeah its a cheesy thing but can be fun at night when locals gather to mainly drink beer and have fun. Shrimp fishing is often a second thought. And, they are not easy to catch. One look at the water...and smell...and you may not want to eat them anyways...I've been to a couple of these including this one and the... More

Gone several times. Be warned, it can get boring sitting there with a fishing stick waiting for an hour to catch a few prawns. The bright overhead lights are no help either when its 9:30pm and you're drinking Taiwan beers. But the food is good, even if the prawns are "dirty" and its something different for the average tourist, and... More

You're going to sit there for an hour or two and more than likely catch very few shrimp. And that's not just sour grapes - the most I saw from a pair of Taiwanese dudes was 12 in two hours. So best case scenario you might catch 6 shrimp in two hours. And you gotta pay for a taxi to... More

And therefore, totally recommended! Be prepared to communicate by signs unless you can find someone visiting who speaks mandarin. After getting all set, sit around and see how the experienced locals get a shrimp every 5 minutes while you don't get anything... Well, I got three in one hour, but my friend didn't catch any (even a local came to... More
