The ground of the museum make you feel as though you are in Europe not in Southern Taiwan. They offer guided tours in Chinese and I am not sure about English but they do have recorded tours in multiple languages. Many things to see and explore and good half day trip.

Some local Tainan friends took us here. We didn't know what to expect and we were quite impressed with the museum, which is really an extensive private collection. We specifically enjoyed the fine art section. No photography can be taken inside the museum as is the case with many museums. But should you need a momento the gift shop offers... More

The museum itself is brilliant. Not only the garden is large and beautiful , the museum itself is full of oil paintings and instrument. If you have a chance to visit Tainan , this museum is a must to visit. Besides, No photo shooting is allowed inside the museum. 這個博物館外觀整理的很精緻,庭園跟博物館內都整理得很乾淨。博物館內典藏各種油畫及樂器,是個值得花一兩小時造訪的地方。

There are lots of art collection in this museum. It's really big and the garden is extremely beautiful. Restaurant and cafe are available. I didn't have lunch there so I can't give any comment of their food. But coffee is good! Overall it's a beautiful museum or more than just a museum. It's just located next to motorway. They have... My hosts really really liked this museum. It is nice as far as private collections go. The marketing operation is impressive and this museum is not overly commercialized once you get inside. Getting there and getting inside is not without hassles. If you have been to DC area museums, you can skip this place. But if you have not, or... More

The look of this museum resembles a European palace. The collection inside is worth visiting. Rodin Room, Music Room, Arts Room, Animal Room and Weapon Room... It's spacious and comfortable to walk and pause for a closer look. The garden outside is beautiful. Trees, flowers, statues of Greek gods and goddesses are prominently positioned on a man-made lake.

Took a train from Tainan railway station to Bao'an station which took 6 mins. We were contemplating to wait for the bus when a cab driver told us to just walk straight. Indeed thanks to him, we reached the museum in less than 10 mins. As we were early, there were not much crowd. The purchase of the tickets and... More

Staying in Nanguan Area

Neighbourhood Profile
Nanguan Area
Moving southward from Tainan’s city centre, you will arrive at Nanguan Area. People converged in the South District, Rende District, and Gueiren District forming a community as well as a shopping district. The South District is also a military airbase, and has naturally developed a culture unique to military kindred community with a focus on Shueijiaoshe. If you want to know more about the military kindred community, you can come and wander through the alleys to “breathe” the culture here and taste the delicious noodles. Rende has the Palace-of-Versailles-like Chimei Museum, which collects renowned paintings and classical music instruments from around the world. Transformed from a sugar refinery, the Ten-Drum Cultural Creative Village next to Chimei Museum is a venue promoting a cultural and creative industry. Its drum music has become famous worldwide. At night, the fantastic glass stage platform and the skywalk are the two facilities that are on the must-try list. The five story tall slide is for those who want to let out a shriek of excitement. Guanmiao produces pineapples of the highest quality throughout Taiwan. Furthermore, drying Guanmiao noodles (buckwheat noodles) is an eye-catching scene. The chalk-soil mountains stretch extensively in the Highlands Area 308 in Longci, and the colorful bamboo forests scatter in between. When you visit here, make sure you taste the mountain delicacy, free-range chickens.
