We visited the monastery while staying in Pokhara. Took a taxi to the Tashi Palkhel Tibetan settlement and visited the monastery while there. There is not that much to see around the settlement, so the monastery is certainly a nice place to spend some time.

We also timed our visit for the 3:30PM puja (prayer session) to hear the monks chanting. Nice to see an active monastery.

We were a bit sad to see so many tourist ignoring the wishes of the monks. Many people took photos/videos of the monks and the inside of the monastery, even though both are explicitly forbidden by signs. Please be respectful when visiting an active monastery and do not take any pictures of monks and the inside of the monastery!

A monk greeted us at the monastery and welcomed us to enjoy the temple. It was a beautiful temple with many Buddha statues and wonderful paintings.

Loved the peaceful atmosphere and the hike towards it. Worth every drop of sweat - I walked all the way from Lakeside there. Not much to do there but enjoy yourself and the view and the serene quality surrounding it. Worth it.

I went here based on my travel agency's recommendation. This should be on the list if you are visiting Pokhara.

After our 16 day Manaslu Trek with Friendly Trekkers, our group of 4 did a few days of sight-seeing in Pokhara. We arrived at the Monastery for the afternoon service. Although we arrived after the ceremony had already started, we were welcomed in by Monks, and they even encouraged us to move to better seats where we could see more of the action.

Watching the monks, young and old, interact with each other in loving fraternity was wonderful. The music wrapped us in peace and energy. I closed my eyes and rested in the beauty of the experience. One of the monks spent a lot of time talking with us about the central meaning and tenets of Buddhism, both during the service and afterwards. Speaking with him really made the experience more meaningful to us.

A truly beautiful experience in Pokhara!

A beautiful temple in a lovely garden. And a nice extra is the little shop, where they sell all sorts of tibetan things.

At the hotel where I stayed in Pokhara they recommended the prayers (puja) at this Monastery at 3.30pm. So glad I didn’t miss this. I took a taxi but I think there is a local bus going this route.

The monastery is beautiful especially inside, very colorful. Photography is forbidden inside.

It was quite an experience! There was chanting, drums, gongs, trumpets and bells. It was loud but very uplifting. Later I experienced 6am prayers at another monastery and they were quieter and more hypnotic.

The only negative was that there was around 15 tourists inside. Everyone was quiet and enjoying the puja. However on either side of me I had a guy fiddling with his cell phone after the first 45 mins. One of the guys actually started whispering to me to ask if I knew when it finished. I found this disrespectful.

There is a notice outside which says no cell phones to be used during the prayers. The ceremony lasts two hours but you can leave quietly at any time.

There are many Tibetans with stalls lining the route to the monastery, they are very friendly and persuasive so take a little money!
