This trip was a mixed bag for me. Granted I got what I signed up for, a cultural trip and Langtang Ri Trekking DID deliver that; but I guess I'm less cultural focus than most. But Langtang Ri staff went out of itinerary to facilitate (with some input of financial offsets to accommodate the travel changes) which is excellent of them.
Oddly, the parts of the trip I particularly enjoyed, were the incidents and issues that travellers would prefer to have avoided. We were inundated with mudslides, rockfalls that blocked our transport, and flooded dirt roads that turned to mud traps. And trekking through those hardships made the journey worth its salt.
Our two main guides were pretty knowledgable and helpful. For me, guide RAM is an exemplary guide you want by your side when things fall apart. He know when to step in to assist and when to offer assistance, a most invaluable person to have on the trip. He even arranged for me to visit the (second) world longest pedestrian bridge (in the world). Not for the faint hearted, especially during rainfall, which was the weather I attempted (ie. Slippery when wet).
I would like to thank my Langtang Ri guides, for turning an otherwise bland cultural trip (for me, at least), into a memorable experience. I would also offer advise to future travellers to share with guides, if their journey does not commensurate according to their expectations. Langtang Ri does their best.

We had a great trip with Langtang Trekking.
We had three weeks to spend in Nepal and discussed our wishes and experience-level in trekking. Pamfa and her team provided us a tailored schedule which contained some guided cultural sightseeing in Kathmandu (something we‘d recommend to everybody visiting Nepal), 9 days of trekking to Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp and Chitwan National Park. Everything was very well organised and the caring team supported us, wherever needed. We had a lot of fun during trekking with our companions Prasan and Dipendra so that we felt comfortable from the first day. They were also very experienced and kept an eye on the risky parts of the journey. The tour was great and we’ve had good views on the amazing landscape and the impressive mountains surrounding us. In Chitwan Kamal was very capable to show and explain us about the local flora and fauna. Even there we were very lucky to see one of the tigers in the national park.
For us it was a great experience and wonderful journey, we can highly recommend!

I recently returned from our fascinating 5 day trip to Nepal along with my wife .Langtang Ri organised our trip professionally . Trip was very good , definitely Langtang Ri kept us busy but also took care of our comfort , as there was so much to see and discover within 5 days. Our local guides Krishna and Saraswati , both were informative and knowledgeable, giving us great insights into the country, culture and history of Nepal. Our driver Chandra took care of our transportation made our trip a very memorable one. I will strongly recommend Langtang Ri if anybody wants to explore Nepal.

It was our first trip to Nepal and we had just limited time. So we asked Langtang Ri Trekking for an itinerary and they prepared a roundtrip package which included 8 nights and 9 days. This was so well prepared that we could do a two-day trek, sightseeing in Kathmandu and Pokhara and a jungletrek in Chitwan. Thanks to the competency of the office and all involved staff, we had an amazing trip. There was even always some time for us left, so the entertainment/freetime balance was perfect. Additional to that, we appreciate also the price/service balance. We enjoyed a lot of amazing impressions in a really fascinating country. That's why we can recommend this agency.

I have been with Langtang Ri twice; The Manaslu circuit several years ago and the Makalu base camp trek this year. Next time, I would go with the same outfit again.

Our group did a trekking tour from Jomsom to Lo Manthang, to reach there just in time for the Tiji Festival.
With the assistance of our capable guide Phurkel, I have had a memorable trip.
The trek itself was very tough, with lots of climbs over many mountain passes, but we’re rewarded with great views of the Himalaya mountain ranges.
Overall, the great support of Lantang Ri made my trip more convenient - like the loan duffel bag and sleeping bag. Even when hiccup happened, our guide handle it with great stoic and calmness.

5 Stars for all the guides & logistics provided! We had a memorable experience and blessed with great weather able on the day of arrival at ABC.
This is my 3rd time Nepal Trekking with Langtang Ri Trekking and Expedition.
No complaints except for the wet thundery weather that was out of anyone's control in certain days. But our main guide, P and assistant guide, N including the Porters did an exceptional job to manage the unexpected.
Also, really appreciate the flexibility to accommodate my gal friend at Real Sinuwa Guest house while the rest carried on towards ABC. ( 5 Star for that lodge as well.)
Dheraeli dheraeli dundaebat ( thank you very much).

Everything about the trip was perfect and nice. The guidance was good and according to our expectations. Got to trek the valley with the best view and safety. Extra thanks to our guide, Mansoon for even going extra miles to take care of our safety and also explained the beautiful language valley information as well as shared the history and essence of the place 😊

My first time in Nepal: I took a superb one-day tour of Kathmandu and have also completed (April 17 to May 6, 2023) the quite long Makalu Basecamp trek with two friends (8 days walking plus 2 rest days going up; 7 days walking coming out), all organised by the LangTang Ri company. I enjoyed the Eco Hotel well-located in Thamel (very obliging and helpful staff) and found the day tour of Pashputinath, Boudhanath Stupa and Durbar Square enjoyable and fascinating (thank you, Jeevon). The weather on the walk was generally good in the mornings, allowing incredible views (attached photos of Makalu and Everest), but it would sometimes hail, snow or rain in the afternoons. Accommodation on the trek was described as “basic” by the company but I had many good cheese omlettes and most higher lodges had a stove in the communal area, aiding socialising and drying of clothes. We were a group of 3 all over 60 in age. The guide looked after us very well (thank you, Lawang) pacing us at “bistaari, bistaari” (slowly, slowly) so we did not get too out of breath in the thin air higher up. Two of us had no altitude problems and completed the trek. One person had some health concerns at Yangle Karka - division of the party followed and a helicopter transfer to Kathmandu was efficiently organised for that person (thank you Pamfa and Lawang) – all persons are fine. Travel arrangements back to Kathmandu at the end of the trek were competently rearranged to give a pleasant overnight in Khandbari, a scenic private jeep transfer to Biritnagar (to avoid weather-related uncertainty of Tumlingtar flights), and comfortable transfer back to the hotel in Kathmandu. I was very satisfied with my holiday. I would whole heartedly recommend LangTang Ri (good attention to detail), and hope to use them again someday.

Namaste! I will go to Nepal in early November. I need to know if I can book the trek to Langtang 10 days for one person only. and if I can have a guide just for myself, or if I have to join a group. I would also like to complete 20 days with another 10 day trek approximately, but not exceeding the maximum altitude of 4,000 mtrs. Maybe Tisum valley or the other less popular one. Thank you

Dear Claudia, Namaste! Thank you for your query. We don't have a group that you can join for early November for Langtang Trek but we can arrange you to go for the trek with our guide. Tsum valley is not possible for just one person. Instead we would suggest Mardi Himal Trek. Let me know if you have any further queries. I will be happy to answer them for you.

Maybe a silly question but can i use US dollars through the region? Or will i need to change to Rupees?

We paid the travel company in advance but due to problems on the trail had to take jeeps to our destination. When we didn't have enough rupees we were able to pay in dollars for the jeeps, I assume because they would have better access to banks to make the exchange. If you do smaller bills are necessary and they will not be able to make change. It is always better to plan for the unexpected. Our our trek we did see a number of unexpected illnesses that required jeep assistance or extra days to recover from illnesses, Weather also plays into cost. Due to connecting flights we booked a jeep to guarantee we made our flight. Langtang Ri will be able to give you a good guideline on suitable amount and/or cushion. There were 3 of us and we helped cover each other. Hope this helps

Has anyone used Langtang Ri for a family trip (kids aged 8-13): I am tempted by their 14 day tour but never booked something like this before and unsure how to tell if reviews etc are genuine. sorry if that sounds cynical.

We just completed an 8-day trek with a family of 4 people. Kids ages 11 (girl) and 15 (boy), in the Langtang valley. It was a wonderful trip and the kids did fine. We even summited Tserko Ri at 16,300ft with the kids. I definitely recommend Langtang Ri Trekking to support your trip. They did a great job.
