Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went to the hill for bird-watching, unfortunately the first day the local TV station announced that Snow was on the Mountain resulting in what seemed half the motorbikes in the city trying to climb the hill over the morning basically scaring any and all birdlife away. The second day however saw the crowds disappear allowing more of the promised range and variety of bird-life to appear resulting in a much more pleasant experience...certainly a place to recommend for both exercise and a more relaxed option if in Katmandhu and interested in wildlife.

Phulchowki is the highest point around Kathmandu valley and has a height of 2791 meters. One can hike to this hill or reach there by jeep and see the whole of the valley spread before you. Rhododendrons of different colors, including pure white and dark red, grow here.

Located around ten kilometers southeast of Patan, this mountain, 2759m high, is a good spot for hiking. Rhododendrons of different varieties and colors from pure white to dark red are found here. Birding in the Phulchoki Hill is enjoyable as about 90 species have been recorded in this area. If the weather permits, we can reach the top and can have the opportunity to see great view, from Dhaulagiri Himal to the Everest area. We will descend later birding all along the way. Most of the slopes are covered by Himalayan sub-tropical forest, and we will look for a number of the local species including Rufous-bellied and Crimson-breasted Woodpeckers, Rusty-cheeked Scimitar-babbler, Rufous Sibia, Rufous-winged, Nepal and White-browed Fulvettas, Green-tailed Sunbird, Cutia, Blue-winged Minla, Stripe-throated and Whiskered Yuhinas, Red-flanked Bluetail, White-browed Bush-robin, Dark-throated Thrush, Grey-winged and White-collared Blackbirds, Buff-barred and Black-faced Warblers and many more

Phulchoki (literally flower-covered hill) is the highest hill (2762m) in Kathmandu valley. This triple-peaked hill is 20 kms southeast from Kathmandu centre. The hill is very popular for both bird watching and acclimatization. This site is rich in bird watching this area is best visited during the month of October and March and April when the migrating birds are arriving or departing. here are also temples such as Phulchoki Mai on top of the hill and Phulchoki shrine at the bottom of the hill.

Awalk of approx. 4-5 hours to the top from the bottom of the hill as that will provide more time to look around. At the foot of the hill beautiful garden, The Royal Botanical garden is situated which is a popular picnic spot for locals but for foreigners there are also some interesting things to see such as the green house which houses the notable collection of the orchids and ferns.

Drive from Kathmandu to Godavari and walk to the hill top or drive all the way to hill top.

The walk is difficult but the reward is a wonderful view. The top of Phulcchoki is an army base where they protect the radio towers. There is a shiva temple at the top surrounded by prayer flags and tridents. Along the way many birds and butterflies so it is also good for nature observers.

Phulchowki is the tallest hill around Kathmandu, during winter its covered in snow and even in summer its cool up there. The top is gurded by Nepalese Army yet you can go inside to see the tower and goddess Phulchowki.
The top has lava rock on strange formation. You can see Kathmandu from Eagles eye and other surrounding places and mountains, Its 2700 Meters high from sea level
Going there is also fun as you can drive/walk uphill through thick and untouched forest listening to birds. During spring Rhododendron blooms here coloring parts of hill cherry red.
TIP:
Carry your water if you plan to hike, its going to take 3-4 hours to reach top if you are a good walker. On the top Army have a canteen where you can buy tea(black) or ask them to make you noodles, eggs etc. Its pretty small canteen.
Stay within the walking tracks/road, people have been lost here and finding a lost person is difficult as its thick forest. Wild animals such as black bears, leopards live here though attacks on human are not recorded.

Great place for birdwatching, many different species in forest habitat. The top is also great for views of Langtang. The only downside is that a 4wd car is needed to reach the top.

This is the highest point hill station in kathmandu valley. It would be easy for you if you get there in a private vehicle. Going for hiking and using shortcut tracks for getting to your destination or using the shortcut tracks while returning back shall be your biggest mistake.

me and my 7 frends went there on 9 NOV 2015. We began our journey from bhaktapur at 8 AM in a local bus to saatdobato and catch another micro to godawari from there. We began our hiking from godawari at 9:30 Am and reached to the tower at 2 PM. Its a long track, You will find lots of shortcuts there, but never use them unless anyone of you know them. you will find one short cut when you will be about to reach the tower, Its a well paved ladder which will lead you to the tower and is one of the best shortcut of that destination.

As it is a highest point of the valley heighting 2791 meters.its real cold overthere. As you will be walking your body will be warming inside but outer environment will be very cold.

Its a place for one day hike but you shall be in a real speed coz there's no any thing worse than getting lost there. You shall get help from local police by dialing 100. And carry a lighter, swissknife, enough dryfood, torch, battary backup cellphone and a trustworthy frends. These things will help you if you are lost.

This is a wonderful escape from the pollution and chaos of Kathmandu. Only 30 minutes from the city, with amazing views of the Himalayas from October to March. Not during monsoon season. You can hike or drive to the top. The drive requires a jeep. About 45 minutes from Godavari, where the Botanical Garden and Shiva temple are also worthwhile attractions.
