This 144 feet tall statue is the tallest Shiva in the world. Built of cement, copper and zinc, this statue has a very beautiful smiling face of Lord Shiva. It is in Bharkatpur in Nepal. About 2 hr drive from Kathmandu.
A nominal entrance fee is levied. The entire location is calm , beautiful and well maintained. A shop selling snacks and artifacts is in place near the statue.
A must - see in Nepal.

Amazing view of the valley. The sculpture of Lord Shiva is huge and with only the skies above its beautiful . It is well maintained up till now. A visit taking the hike not a bike reminds its location and appreciation .

The journey to Nepal is a very sacred one for me. Temples and holy grounds touch the soul like no other travel.

We start our travel from Kathmandu. Durbar Square was one of the first places visited. Its a mixed heritage, with buildings that reminded me of Bali. Chagunarayanan Temple in Bhaktapur (UNESCO heritage - hit by ‘Gorkha Earthquake' in April 2015) was of the first stops we made. Next stop, Nagarkot, which was one of the most scenic spots ever, a panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu Valley. Later followed by a visit to Kailashnath Mahadev, the world's tallest Shiva statue. It is built by Kamal Jain, a businessman from Siliguri. The idea came to him when he visited Gurgaon in India and viewed the immense Shiva statute in the Birla temple there.

The next day, we proceed to Pashupatinath Temple, yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site which is also oldest Hindu temple in Kathmandu. Pashupati Temple stands in the center of the town of Deopatan, in the middle of an open courtyard. It is a square, two-tiered pagoda temple built on a single-tier plinth, and it stands 23.6 meters above the ground. Richly ornamented gilt and silver-plated doors are on all sides. Blessed to have been given a VIP Pass by the Tour operator, we proceed to witness the Maha Shivaratri, which an estimated 1million devotees will overflow from the week before. It is also very common to meet sadhus in Pashupatinath. Sadhus are wandering ascetic yogis, who are trying to acquire liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth by meditating. Only followers of Hinduism can enter the main temple, but all the other buildings are available for foreigners to visit. From the Eastern bank of the river the main temple can be seen in its whole beauty. The Bagmati River, which runs next to Pashaputinath Temple, has highly sacred properties. Thus the banks are lined with many ghats (bathing spots) for use by pilgrims. Renovating or furnishing these sites has always been regarded as meritorious. The western bank of Bagmati also hosts the so called Panch Deval (Five temples) complex, which once was a holy shrine but now serves a shelter for destitute old people.
The next day, is a re-charge day, we travel to Pokhara, the mirror to the Himalaya .. Especially after a long day the day before, we get to see lush greenery, lakeside view, temples and more temples. We very privileged to visit the Manakamana Temple of Gorkha, which is a temple for Godess Durga Bhawani. We took a cable car ride which took us 10 mins to the top which was filled with luxuriant greenery so soothing to the eye.
The following day, we proceed to yet another another UNESCO heritage, Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha. The integrity of Lumbini has been achieved by preserving the archaeological remains within the property boundary that gives the property its Outstanding Universal Value. The holy site of Lumbini has ruins of ancient monasteries, a sacred Bodhi tree, an ancient bathing pond, the Ashokan pillar and the Maya Devi Temple, where the supposed place of birth of Buddha is located.
Following day we proceed to Kathmandu stopping our journey for smaller temples and shopping. Our journey back to Malaysia was filled with so many memories, for me a special one as I have never traveled on a pilgrimage tour before this.
Thank you Muru from Nakshatra Holidays, Rawang for a very well planned trip.

The Hindu Trinity of the primary aspects of the divine (LORD SHIVA).World tallest statue of LORD SHIVA lies in NEPAL(SANGA,BHAKTAPUR).
In the Shaiva tradition of Hinduism, Shiva is the Supreme God and has five important works: creator, preserver, destroyer, concealer, and revealer (to bless). In the Smarta tradition, he is regarded as one of the five primary forms of God.Yet one with great power, he lives a life of a sage at Mount Kailash.

The greatest statue of lord Shiva . It is so beautiful and touchy! here you can feel some positive vibes and presence of god. More spiritual may be because of Shiva is the starting and ending of hinduisum.
