I have recently completed an Everest Base Camp trek with Responsible Adventures. We chose the welllness tour from the website as it offered something other companies were not offering in terms of the nutrition and health considerations. Responsible Adventures had been recommended to me by a friend who has already used the company more than once before.
I wanted to use the experience to bond with my teenage son who turned 17 on the trip. Every single detail of the whole trip was taken care of by Raj the company owner, and his assistant treking guide from being met at the airport, the stay in Kathmandu, the actual trek and the departure from Kathmandu at the end. All meals where of high quality and hygene was a priority at each place we stopped and was checked. The assistant guide also served as a chef and prepared a healthy nutritious drink each morning to start the day.
Responsible Adventures are not just another trekking provider, they are the complete package with ethical and environmental values. The trek is designed to be different from the standard route offered by so many other companies. We took a more diverse route taking in higher passes and more points of interest. We stayed at interesting tea houses. Special interest is placed on the food to ensure a balance of protein and nutrition. We were accompanied by 2 porters who carried our heavy baggage, the porters were properly equipped and looked after.
Raj provided information about the local environment and interesting facts all along the route, more than just a guide to follow like many we saw who were just following a guide from place to place.
I would recommend Responsible Adventures to any individual or family group or friends group who want to do a trekking tour in Everest region, I cannot think of a single criticism of the whole trip.

My daughter Jessica and I did Responsible Adventures' Sherpa Legends Trek with the company's owner, Raj, and his assistant, Rai Sundar. Both were wonderful hiking companions. The trek turned out to be private as we were the only ones signed up. It was excellent, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in a challenging but not difficult trek in the Everest region.
Raj was extremely responsive and fully answered all my questions as we went through preparations for the trip at home. Once we arrived in Kathmandu, Raj took us on 2 informative walks through the Old Town area of the city and helped us with exchanging cash and choosing restaurants.
The trek itself, as the name suggests, is focused on the sherpa people and their involvement in climbing in the Himalayas. Raj was a fountain of information about this, as well as the history, geography, and wildlife of the area. Each day of hiking was very doable. The lodges chosen by Raj (and the villages in which they were located) in many cases had some connection to sherpas who were famous for their exploits on Everest.
One of the reasons we chose Responsible Adventures was their focus on wellness. They consistently made sure our food and drinks had healthy ingredients. Sundar was always in the kitchen at our lunch stops and lodges attending to this.
When we returned to Kathmandu, Raj arranged a driver for a day acted as guide for visits to Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square, both impressive historical sights to complete our Nepal experience, one that we will never forget. Thank you, Responsible Adventures!

Three girlfriends and I booked a tailor made 7-day trek in the Annapurna with Responsible Adventures and I don’t think I can adequately articulate how much I loved this trip and our guide, chef, and porters.
We’re rather novice trekkers so we had lots of questions during the planning phase. Raj was patient and responsive to our emails about what to pack and what to expect during the trip.
Responsible Adventures took care of everything during the trip and we were able to focus on the amazing scenery, people, and experiences. We were met at the airport (at 1 am!) and transported to our hotel to get some much needed sleep. This might seem like a small thing but after 3 long flights, I was grateful not to have to navigate a taxi.
Shrijana, our guide, met us in the morning and took such great care of us up until we departed Nepal 10 days later. She shared a yoga practice with us everyday. It was a wonderful way to reflect on the day’s trek and to stretch out the tight hamstrings!
The food was delicious and geared toward providing our bodies with the nourishment needed. I can’t remember the last time I felt so healthy and strong. Dil, our chef, took great care in providing safe water and healthy meals and also hot beverages that warmed the body and soul. (I am still trying to replicate the honey and turmeric tea!).
Our porters were friendly and sociable, which made me happy. They, without question, out-hiked us but we’d all meet up for lunch and at the tea house for the evening. Responsible Adventures is one of the few companies who provide meals for the porters and staff. How Responsible Adventures provides for their employees was definitely a factor in us deciding to trek with them. If you’re searching for a trek, I hope you consider this too.
The trek itself was breathtaking. It was challenging in parts but never too difficult. We never felt rushed and often stopped for photos or to just marvel at the scenery. All in all, trekking in Nepal is amazing and Responsible Adventures made our trip one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.

My family of 4 has just returned from one of our most memorable trips in Nepal.
The memorable experience was made possible by the wonderful team from Responsible Adventures. They have truly lived up to their name.
Although Raj was not able to join us due to conflicting schedule, the assigned trek leader Anand and team mates like Chandra have made efforts to see to our every need. Morning wake up call with a cup of piping hot tumeric ginger honey drink was much welcomed in a cold winter morning. Organic coffee accompanied by our preferred breakfast choice were served daily. Filtered water was made ready for us at anytime and organic food was served on most meals.
We have fallen in love with Nepal and looking forward to another adventure with Responsible Adventures. Keep up the good work!

Responsible Adventures offer the best service you could ask for. Fully tailored and every need catered for (and more!). During our 14-days trekking around the Everest region, the team showed outstanding professionalism while still maintaining a fun and friendly environment. Having the local knowledge of Raj and his expert guides at our disposal allowed all of our questions to be answered, as well as showing us places we would never have thought to visit on our own.
The trek took us off the usual EBC route, taking the high pass from Khumjung to Pangboche. This was a highlight of the trek for me as we were off the beaten path and high above the usual route - often being the only ones on the trail.
The food throughout the trek was as good as you could wish for given the remoteness of the area you are in, with all the teahouses providing a great place to relax in the evenings.
On the shorter days of the trek, a film would be shown or a tour round a traditional Sherpa house arranged for us. It's these small details that made the experience one I will forever be grateful for.
Huge thank you to Raj and the rest of the Responsible Adventures team!

Ama Dablam expedition. This is the second time I have been on an expedition through Raj and Responsible Adventures. The whole experience from booking through to the expedition itself was excellent, I can’t fault Raj and his team at all. Our trek leader was brilliant and looked after us so well. Our base camp team were excellent, the food that they provided was of a very high standard and they catered so well for a vegan diet. Thanks to Raj and your team for keeping us well and healthy and ready for the summit! I am already planning the next expedition with Raj.

Jai Ho!
Our trip to Mt. Everest Base Camp, landing by Helicopter - was a Spiritual journey for us!
It is very hard for me to write something about this trip in words, as It was the moments of beyond any words!
I would like to request all, those who wants to do a similar trip to EBC, please go with Responsible Adventures, with Raj-Ji only!
The moment you land in Kathmandu, and till the moment you leave, the amount of care filled with a personal touch, a sense of responsibility and with so much love you will get, one cannot imagine.
The way Raj ji thought about every aspect of this journey and planned the trip, the way he took care of ALL of us, that, it felt like he considers his travellers as God sent to him!
I would recommend everyone, that, if you are thinking of making a trip in this region, it has to be only with Responsible Adventures, with Raj Tamang Ji or under his guidance only!
Gratitude to you Raj ji for helping me completeing one of my 'Adhura-Kaarya' in this lifetime!
Wishing you success always.. Jai Jai Ho!

I went on a three week trek to Mount Kailash and back with Raj & a group of seven in 1996. It was the most spectacular and transformative adventure in my life and for the other members of the trek. Raj is knowledgeable larger than life character. I highly recommend what he is doing with Responsible Adventures.

We took a 10 days Mardi Himal trek from 4/11- 13/11. Raj and his team had been very helpful and professional, from receiving us at the airport, touring Kathmandu and Pohkara, helping us to rent sleeping bags and taking care of our needs during the hike. The team provided filtered drinking water for us and Sundar (our trekking chef) even included super food ingredients in our meals. Highly recommended Responsible Adventures if you are planning to make a trip to Nepal!
