Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small, but lots of variety and you'll get to watch the artists making things. Nice wood, leather and metal work, along with paintings and other fabrics. Good prices

Smaller market where you can browse without everyone wanting you to come look at their items. It's understandable why they do it but it's incredibly annoying. You can watch a weaver weave and sculptors carve.

If you would like to buy some suveniers from Togo, then Village Artisanal is most probably the best place to do it. However, I did not find nice magnets or postcards, even thought they have some.

When visiting Lome and needing souvenirs, this is the spot. Of special interest should be the batik died cloth paintings. These are cloths with strikingly beautiful scenes of African village life and African fauna. Prices are affordable and all sorts of textiles and carved wood items are on sale here too.

It's not a very big place but it does provide a full range of local trades including painting, textiles, shoe-making, wood carving etc. You can walk around at your own pace without the constant pressure to "look for free" and the artists are happy to engage with you (they even speak basic English). If you choose not to buy you are not made to feel guilty and those you do buy from appear to give a reasonable price (much cheaper than those quoted to us at markets).

Great low stress way of looking at and buying local crafts. A range of souvenirs are available - word work, ceramics, fabrics etc. The prices seemed reasonable and the environments is a lot less intense and pushy than in the grand marche. Well worth a visit.

I live in Togo and frequent this market. Good place to get gifts or souvenirs at reasonable prices. Less pressure than in the street markets but you should still negotiate prices. This market is aimed towards tourists and for the most part each shop owner is very friendly, helpful, and will negotiate price. Also a good place to get custom gifts made if you have more than a week in Lome. I shop here for small wood items, batiks, some leather work (not the front corner shop). Some of the best traditional pottery work I've seen in West Africa.

This is much better place than Grand Marche to see art work and estimate the price. There is not so much pressure from vendors and first asking price is more reasonable. You still have to bargain and get it for 50% od asking price. Selection is not as big as the market is small but there are some very good items. If you are looking for not heavy gift for your friends the post office is not far with a great selection of stamps. You have to ask in the main hall for directions as this office is accessible from the yard.

It is a must visit for anyone who likes to explore african handicraft. We can see the people working and can shop at the same time. They are normally very gentle and dont pressurize to buy. Prices are normally nominal but a little bargaining will also work.
