Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As described by other reviews, this house is located in the outskirts of Dakar. You get a guided tour of the three floors of the house and explanations of the large sculptures that Sow made. The artwork is very impressive and it's definitely worth spending an hour to learn about his life and art.

Saturday morning 27th May and this was another stop on our all day Art & Culture tour of the City of Dakar. Thankfully we were on a tour or we would never have found it as it is located off the beaten track.
This building was the former home of the Artist which has been turned into a Museum following his death.
Ousmane Sow was born in Dakar on 10th October 1935 and he also died there on 1st December 2016 aged 81. During his life he trained and worked as a physiotherapist, in Paris. At the age of 50 he abandoned his career as a physiotherapist to concentrate on his passion for sculpting.
Our guide led us around the rooms over three of the floors in the building which were filled by the various pieces created by the famous Sculptor. There were signs on the walls, in both English and French, giving details about the sculptures.
A number of the works cebreate some of the tribes of Africa including Nuba, Masai, Zulu, Fulani and Little Nuba.
World Famous people are also represented including Nelson, Victor Hugo and General de Gaulle.
One of the sculptures, The Man and Child, it depicts a man smuggling a child to safety from danger hidden under his long coat.
The large sculpture of the naked wrestlers of the South Sudan Nuba Tribe is rather eye-catching to say the least.
One of the displays is Ousmane's is an African family, his idea for the African Renaissance Monument which was not used.
For some reason one my favourite sculptures was that of a man's head wearing a floppy hat.
There were several glass cabinets filled with awards and accolades bestowed to Ousmane Sow.
The entrance fee to the Museum for tourists was 5,000 CFA, roughly £7, per adult.
