Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Now if they could only get the trains running! Hopefully there will soon be airport connection. Traffic in Dakar is insane!

A direct line from DSS airport will appear here soon. The visit to see the railway station was ordinary.

The building is lovely from the outside but know it is being renovated and while you can look inside the glass you cannot enter it. Worth a visit to see the architecture and decoration.

Lovely renovated train station that now stands proud in the middle or Dakar. At present you cannot go inside but the building is very photogenic

It was a central railway station at Dakar and now the service has been suspended due to renovation. But the nice architecture on the front way of railway station has been maintained as earlier bearing it's old heritage and culture. It looks so beautiful.

You have to see it because it’s part of the history of African railway. They’ve built a new entrance at the front for the fast train to the new airport and beyond but more importantly they’re rehabbing the original station at some great expense.

Signs posted outside say the renovation will be complete by 2019. I doubt it. Too bad it fell into disrepair, looks like it could have been cool back in the day

The railway station was closed a few years ago but the railway station remains. Apparently the station will be redeveloped and trust the Government forces the developers to keep the façade. A number of people who appeared to living in the old station.

If you're in Dakar, you ought to visit. There isn't much to see, but the country is improving its rail system. We stayed at the Ibis Hotel (beside the French Embassy) and it was an easy walk.

Esiste il collegamento ferroviario tra dakar e Saint louis

I was in Dakar 20+ years ago and the railway station was still in use, sad that something else inherited from colonial days is left to rot when it had a lot of use but little in the way of maintenance, the story of so much in Africa.
