This is once in a lifetime experience and Intore is the best. Eric picked me up from my accommodation and drove me in his Toyota Land Cruiser to the Volcanoes National Park. His vehicle was comfortable and air conditioned, Eric is very friendly, has a great sense of humor and is fluent in English, His communication skills are superb and he listened to my request. He helped me communicate with locals as he commands seven (!) languages...
Overall a great hike and beautiful memories, Highly recommended!

Highly Recommended. I cannot say enough about Intore Expeditions in terms of their professionalism, communication, and care that they took in managing me and my wife's tour in Rwanda. Paul and Shelly (owners) accompanied us to the mountains and took every care possible. We spent 3-4 full days with them. My first face to face interaction was when they met us at the airport. I quickly found them outside the terminal helping 2 other couples who had no tour company meeting them and also had a bogus hotel booking in their own arrangements (not with Intore).....they are super kind people! They also did a great job in helping to locate our lost luggage (Qatar Airways) and ensuring it caught up with us in our subsequent safari in the Serengeti.....they communicated well with our Tanzania tour company (Easy Tours). We had a great time in experiencing the golden monkeys and gorilla trek. The monkey tour was an easy trek and the gorilla interaction occurred after a 2-3 hour trek up the mountains....unbelievable experience!

I was recently on a business visit to Rwanda and while in country organised a trip to Volcanoes National Park to see the Gorillas .This was organised through Intore who had been recommended to me and it turned out to be a great recommendation. They are clearly a well run and organised company. We had a comfortable car with safe driver, who arrived on time, from Kigali to Volcanoes . The driver/guide then picked me up from my lodge on the morning of the trek and organised which Gorilla group I would join. It was efficient and if I am ever back in Rwanda I would definitely use them again. Having called several other companies first they are also competitive in price. Please use them if you are in Rwanda.

We booked a 4-day-Tour incl. Gorilla-Trekking, Golden Monkey Trekking at the Volcano-National-Park and Lake Kivu. The booking process was easy although email connections were sometimes very poor to Rwanda. But Shelly Ann was very supportive and offered us a very suitable trip. Our driver Erik picked us up from the airport and from that time our unforgettable trip started. Eric was always on time, very help- and trustful and did a great job. Lodge and Hotel were on high standarts and we really really enjoyed our trip. We had such a good time and we are sure that we will come back to see more of this amazing country. Thanks to Intore for perfect oganization.

I travel solo for business, which is how I found myself in Rwanda. I had been in Kigali for a week, but wanted to get out of the city. The day trip to Akagera with Intore was my favorite part of this trip!
Custom Itinerary: I had an 8:25pm flight out of KGL, so I needed to arrive back at the hotel by 5pm to get ready. I received a custom itinerary that allowed me to experience the entire park in one day, while still returning by 5pm to my hotel.
Accepts PayPal: This may seem trivial, but cash is king in Rwanda. As a business traveler, I charge everything to cards to accumulate points. Unfortunately, only a Visa debit card seems to allow withdrawals from ATMs in Rwanda, which greatly complicates getting cash (I suggest bringing $200 USD and changing wherever gives you the best rate). The PayPal option eliminated the hassle of getting cash, and allows me to get points on my card of choice.
Choice of Vehicle: You have the option of an open-top 4x4 or a closed-top air conditioned vehicle. If you have a nice camera (not just a cell phone) and the appropriate attire (hat, sunscreen, light clothing) then the open-top 4x4 probably gives a more "safari" feel to the adventure. However, I was limited to an iPhone and dress attire - not exactly safari-ready gear. I chose the closed-top A/C vehicle, and had an incredible time. No bugs, no heat, leather seats, and I just rolled down the window periodically to take photos. If you are on business travel, you can absolutely go on this expedition!
Exceptional Driver: My driver (Bosco) really made this experience exceptional. It takes 2.5 hours to get from Kigali to the South entrance, and about 3.5 hours to return from the North entrance of the park. I had a great time learning about life in Rwanda on the drive to/from the park. Bosco explained the banana groves, avocado trees, market economy, schools - it was a great excursion before we even arrived at the park!
Food: Breakfast and Lunch are provided, which makes the trip entirely self-contained. I was picked up at 5am from my hotel, and we arrived at the South entrance around 7:30am. Bosco had brought bananas, eggs, cookies, and a thermos to make tea. Combined with the view over the park, this was a great start to the day! Once we reached the North exit, we enjoyed the lunch Bosco prepared as well - which can be customized to your diet.
Akagera: The trip through Akagera took around 6 hours, and was absolutely incredible. Bosco was very knowledgeable about the wildlife, and provided great commentary as we were driving around. Your experience will be unique, but here are some highlights from mine. We had two encounters with the elephant herd (where caution must be exercised - you aren't in a zoo, and they will charge if threatened), and enjoyed watching a few giraffes up close.
Summary: This was an incredible adventure that gives you a more complete picture of Rwanda. The Intore team streamlines the entire process, including customized itineraries, vehicle preference, food selection, and multiple payment options. My driver made the entire trip, both inside and outside the park, an eye-opening experience. If you need to get out of Kigali for a day, this is the trip to take!

Just came back from a weekend trip in Gisenyi and Musanze (Gorilla trekking).
At every moment, the amazing team of Intore Expeditions was there to help us, share their experience and propose activities that would suit our tastes.
When one of us got sick, we knew we could count on Intore and they were just AMAZING. Travelling with Intore Expeditions = a well organized, fascinating trip, but also a safe one. We couldn't be more grateful and recommend them warmly. Intore is your best choice in Rwanda. It's that simple.

Pro 1: Driver (Bosco)
Perhaps the best element of the trip. My driver was very communicative, and went out of his way to make sure the trip was awesome. He stopped several times along the road to show me different things (eg coffee plants, monkeys, scenery).
One exceptional stop he made was at the Team Rwanda Cycling headquarters on the way. Was a fantastic driving experience. I hope he gets paid dearly for his quality and character. I learned more from Bosco about the land and people of Rwanda than perhaps anyone.
Had Bosco been an average driver, my rating for Intore would've been 3 out of 5.
Pro 2: Shelly
Shelly was likewise helpful over the phone and email. Responded rapidly and professionally, even over the weekend. Provided hiking boots for me since I didn't have my own. Was most thankful that I didn't have to drop $80 on a pair.
Pro 3: Lodging & Tour
This is a review of Intore, I'll dwell lightly here. Mountain View Gorilla was great in almost every respect (4 out of 5). Traditional music and dancing was interesting. The tour, rangers & guides were likewise excellent, and deserve a separate review.
Con 1: Price Uncompetitive
I calculated ~$700 after subtracting the permit costs (Kigali>>Volcano Park) from the total. That's presumably for a rented SUV, driver, his accommodation, and admin / commission.
I checked another company with an even higher TA Rating (Wildlife Tours Rwanda), and they quoted 17% less on the total cost ($1150 vs. $950 for the same trip, which is quite a spread. Further more, a day trip to Akagera cost over $600 at Intore while Wildlife Tours cost HALF as much ($300). Moreover, a private city bus with 10 seats will cost you less than $200 in total!!
My coworkers' minds were blown at how much I spent and they called me a complete idiot.
Con 2: Group matching
Was in Rwanda alone for business. Intare had no information about the kind of groups I'd be traveling with. They're perhaps not big enough to pair you with others. I was the only one I think the company had sent out that day to Volcanoes NP. Other companies sent vans with several people (hence the potential cost saving?). Had I known it would be 3/4 families and kids, I'd have looked for another time or group to travel with.
Conclusion:
Go with Intare if you're a spendthrift or have an emergency and no time to book or organize. Otherwise, research a better deal.

Intore helped a colleague and me organize a 10-day stay in Rwanda that included: hotel reservations, private driver, tour of Akagera Park, water each day, Gorilla trekking permits and guides, interpretation, and logistical support. The entire process was outstanding, and I will definitely be using Intore again! During the trip planning, the Intore staff were patient, knowledgeable, and affable. They listened to requests and offered suggestions, always keeping our goals in mind. When we arrived in Kigali, our driver was right there; he was highly friendly and eager to help, and he remained at our disposal throughout the trip, even helping with interpretation for some excursions farther afield. Beyond merely driving us around, he explained everything we saw, and he provided outstanding historical context for every site, landmark, and neighborhood. For our trip to Akagera, Intore had a driver pick us up from our hotel in Kigali and drive us to the park, where a guide met us. We were provided with lunch, water, and a detailed explanation of everything in the park--from the flora and fauna, to the park's role in Rwanda's history and development. Our driver was highly flexible, even taking us to on an unplanned outing to Gisenyi to seek Lake Kivu and the DRC border. After the trip, Intore followed up with us in person to make sure that we had a rewarding and satisfying experience. Their help and support were truly outstanding. Please, please, please, if you are even considering seeing Rwanda, contact Intore; they are professional, and they will help you to discover this gem of Africa. Rwanda is a beautiful, magnificent country, and I am impatient for my next trip with Intore!

I knew that I'd stumbled across some pretty special people from my first communication with Intore. I was having some trouble getting my visa back from the embassy in DC and as soon as I mentioned this, Shelly was on the case, offering everything she could to try and help me sort the situation out despite the fact that it was not at all in her job description! From that moment I knew I was in amazing hands.
I had initially planned to use Intore for 3 days, to make a round trip from Kigali to Cyangugu, but once I was on the ground ended up spending far more time with them. They were amazing and made it all so easy for me.
Even though I had only planned to use them for a short part of my trip, Shelly and Paul went above and beyond - offering to pick me up from the airport at midnight, calling my hotel when I got stranded in Nairobi overnight due to a cancelled flight, coming back to my hotel to check that my lost luggage turned up at the hotel and then making a long rush hour drive back to the airport when it became clear that it hadn't. They also arranged a last minute change hotel change for me which meant I got to spend the night at the beautiful Nyungwe Forest Lodge and was one of the highlights of my trip.
Shelly suggested the perfect itinerary for me, recommended a number of local projects for me to visit, offered to make introductions where she could and took me out to visit Agahozo Shalom Youth Village on her own time as she was so excited for me to see their work.
I was traveling alone but from the minute I arrived in Rwanda I felt like I had a family around me. I knew that if anything came up during my stay (even on the days that I wasn't using their services) Intore would be there day or night to help in any way that they could.
My actual trip was fantastic. My driver, Arthur, was friendly, professional, and a great guy to spend 6 hours in a car with.
I will be back in Rwanda in a few months and wouldn't dream of using anybody else. Intore are kind, generous, super professional, and hugely committed to making sure you have the most amazing time in Rwanda.
Thank you Shelly, Paul (and Arthur) for an incredible trip.
