The dunes and pans are a unique wonder that should not missed in any trip to southern Africa. Be aware the gates close at sunset to the camping area so be sure you are at camp by sunset.

Namibia on the whole was an eye-opener for us. We travel a lot but this is the first time we've visited a large country with a tiny population of less than 3 million. The NamibRand Nature Reserve is absolutely, gloriously beautiful. The intense colors, the...More

The NamibRand Nature Reserve is a few hours away from Swakopmund or Windhoek through a good road. When you arrive there, all worries with the heat or traffic vanish. The view is spectacular and the sense of vastness and void become very strong. Remember to...More

WOW desert liver would be well serve in Namib Desert reserve, sunrise in dune 45 was delicious and Deadvlei is a pure pice of art. Don’t forget to wake up early.

If you are expecting to see a lot of wildlife this will likely be a disappointment. Even so, an interesting learning experience about the desert and how it can provide a living for the many creatures that call it home.

Vast dunes of red dunes shaped by wind over eons. Its amazing that animals survive in this harsh environment, but they do. We took a Cessna flight over the area and it was SPECTACULAR! GO early when the light is just coming up to see...More

The Tok Tokkie Trail is an exquisite camping experience under only the stars, comparable to no other as walks across the desert are easy (nothing to carry except the water you need), the very erudite guide, Richardo, will tell you about insects, wildlife, minerals and...More

The reserve is stunning. You will surely take the best landscape photo s. The Lodges in the reserve are also stunning, you just wat to stay in a Guide/Pilot room in summer. It feels as if you sleep in a Sauna, it is unbearable.

Where you get in, is where you get out. It is a tour. No way to do it differently in my opinion

I am sorry not being in a position to answer your question..... You will have to go directly on Google and check the offers you can find. There are camping places but not many. I didn't camp when I visited NamibRand !

1) Yes it's possible if you are an absolute sucker for driving endless hours nonstop. No it's NOT recommended and no it's NOT worth it. To "really see" the Nature Reserve you have to go on (at least) one drive with them in... More
