I went on Wild Dog Safaris 23 day tour (a combination of the 7 day north, 7 day south and 9 day delta and falls) and I had the most amazing time from start to finish! It was my first time visiting Namibia (and Botswana and Zimbabwe) and first time properly camping. Namibia is such a beautiful country and their... More

I opted for the 9 day tented safari through Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe and I was delighted with the experience. The guide/driver (Mannie) and co-driver/chef (Stevie) were experienced and knowledgeable and fitted in easily with the group. Animal sightings were first class and the quality of the accommodation superb. I particularly appreciated that each lodge/site had a swimming pool. However... More

George the Wild Dog safari guide was knowledgeable, customer service oriented, good driver and knew Etosha National Park well. We were fortunate to see three prides of lions, rhinos, cheetahs feeding on a recent kill, giraffes, a wide variety of kudu, élan, springbok etc .... The roads to Etosha are in good shape and the actual drive time was about... More

I read the excellent reviews of Wild Dog Safaris so I decided to book a self-drive with them. From the beginning, the planning/booking process didn't go smooth. Accommodation that suddenly changed without warning, incomplete answers to questions... During the trip, we had 2 wrong bookings. - With the first booking, we arrived at the wrong accommodation. Luckily, there was a... More

Can't say enough good things about the people who work at Wild Dog. I did the 6 Day Taste of Namibia trip (3 days Etosha with 1 guide, then 3 days Sossusvlei with another guide). Sossusvlei was so incredible. We spent the second day climbing Dune 45, then taking a 5km walk through the desert to Deadvlei. Our guide, George,... More

Did the 10 day Namibian Explorer trip back in October and loved every second of it. The sights you get to see are some of the best I have ever seen. I was a solo traveller but had a great mix in our group. There was quite a bit of time spent travelling but there is no way around that... More

We booked last minute. Great and amazing experience! Back to the nature experience with self cocked food an simple tents. The staff at Wild Dog was incredibly helpful from the initial contact inquiring about the trip availability to requesting assistance for finding additional trips, local car rentals and further accommodations. The guides and assistants were friendly. The roads are bumpy... More

I have just returned from what can only be described as a trip of a lifetime on the 7 Day North with Wild Dog Safaris. Having been apprehensive initially about camping my fears quickly disappeared. The camps that we stayed at throughout the trip were all clean, spacious and had fantastic views. The tents were spacious and easy to both... More

Having travelled across most of Namibia with Wild Dog Safaris, I cannot praise enough the patience and care taken by their guides and cooks. I also was very happy with their booking process and the assistant provided by their office staff. The accommodation at Windhoek selected by their office staff was excellent. However, if you are going to undertake one... More

I am hoping to do exactly what you did--both the 14 day Namibia trip and the 9 day delta and Vic Falls trip, camping for the 1st time ever. Your review is very important to me. Thanks for taking the time to write it. I am trying to decide when to take this double trip. I have an inconvenient health issue in that I have neuropathy in my feet. This means I cannot wear any shoes but Nike slides, and worse, that I cannot stand anything touching my toes when I sleep. I can manage a cotton sheet or a lightweight fleece throw blanket, but nothing else. I know that nights can get both cold and hot. Is there a fan or heater provided that will keep the air moving in the tent, or do I just have to find a time that the temps will be temperate? Any info and suggestions you can give would be very much appreciated. I was so excited to find that you did the exact same tours that I had decided on.

Living in Basel, you are used to much colder weather than I get down here on the Gulf of Mexico, in South Louisiana. I can take pretty intense heat as long as I have ice water on hand at all times. I spent 2 months Oct-Dec in Africa in 2015, and absolutely loved it, but I stayed in rondavels and budget lodges. Camping with Wild Dog looks like an upscale camping, certainly a grade above the giant truck tours. Since they don't provide sleeping bags as standard equipment, what do you get? thin cots?

Oh, and one last Q--is there a way to get a discount for taking 2 back to back tours? I've been on hold to talk to Tourradar for over an hour. They seem to be kind of a super agent to small tour companies all over the world, so I don't think they will be much help to me.
